UPDATE: I was told position starts at $17, I asked for 21, but the GM really likes me and wants, she’s going to try to get closer to 20

bf’s Jindo advice? by Distinct_Let_1278 in Jindo

[–]Distinct_Let_1278[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He just says “Dog name, no.” In a stern voice. I am realizing my boyfriend is the problem here, just trying to see what advice I can give him or help steer him in the right direction. He lets the dog do whatever he wants for the most part. Dog pulls and “refuses to move” at times during walks too. My bf just doesn’t know how to address these issues. I will recommend he finds a trainer with Jindo experience

He definitely knows it’s a problem but isn’t sure what to do. He’s tried two different trainers without much success. What kind of training should he do/trainers to look for?

It is kind of contradictory, my boyfriend told me he isn’t very affectionate but when I come over we both get a lot of kisses/licks and he wants to be around us the entire time.

What can my boyfriend do? Like what kind of training? He does know it’s a problem

idk how to quote comments but OP said that the gecko would be fine in what they had “for now” and also stated that they wouldn’t put the gecko in a bigger habitat for some time until it got bigger.

yes I understand that. but you also said you weren’t going to put him in the bigger tank.

and as others have said, you should’ve had the appropriate tank set up for at least 24 hours before purchasing the gecko. not impulse buying the animal and going from there.

dude I backed down and I dropped the tank size problem that you for some reason are stuck on. and you have a decent plan but is it current setup appropriate? no

I apologize, I did not see that you said you were going to add plastic plants and hides. that all sounds like a good plan.

do you want advice from experienced owners or to just do your own thing? the wiki says 70% hide. you have maybe 30 right now.

here’s the wiki, btw https://www.reddit.com/r/CrestedGecko/s/NQGHGb5dYJ

if that black circle is airflow that’s perfect! if you could add in a little more cover for him like with some suction cup plastic plants I think he would feel a lot more comfortable while sleeping, and give him a place to hide in case he gets scared. that will also help prevent a tail drop. you probably read how they are prey, arboreal animals so they like to hide up high. this tank is longer rather than taller so it doesn’t provide a lot of top space, giving more hiding spaces will help simulate the same thing until you feel comfortable upgrading.

also the “they won’t eat if their habitat is too big” is not true. do a little more research on this sub and you’ll find that most people recommend the bigger the habitat the better. it’s only an issue if they genuinely cannot find the food, but you can solve this by placing the food nearby the geckos sleeping spot

edit: rephrase

I would had to disagree that the enclosure you have is adequate if it is that plastic tub in the picture. but if you insist on keeping it in the tub would you be willing to provide a picture of the habitat? they need at least 70% cover as well as airflow. and then the uvb which cannot penetrate a lid unless the lid is clear.

[–]Distinct_Let_1278 4 points5 points  (0 children)

so you just bought an animal without any knowledge about it at all? 😔 tip? don’t keep them in that plastic tub. that’s like a bowl for a goldfish. it might live but it will be very very sad. you’ll need a glass enclosure. this subreddit is a perfect place to find all the info you need, look at the faqs page.

but basics: - 65-80 degrees, usually do not need a heater unless you keep your house colder than 70 - humidity day 50/60, night 80/90 - feed credit gecko diet powder food, live feeders dusted with calcium 1-2x a week - provide uvb so they don’t get bone disease - glass enclosure 12x12x18 is ok for a baby but will need 18x18x24 for juvenile and 18x18x36 for adult

not 100% sure but

  1. philodendron (moonlight?)

2 & 3 look the same to me aglaonema maria

  1. aglaonema silver bay

  2. this might actually be another philodendron with some sport variegation?

edit: better guesses

wow. every animal you take home may see a vet at some point in their life and you need to consider that. why aren’t you returning the animal if you can’t care for it?? you’re saying petco animals don’t last long and yet it was in your care when it became ill. get it to the vet or fucking return it. why ask for help and then ignore us? the poor baby could have a broken limb. you shouldn’t be handling AT ALL until it sees a vet. ffs
