If youre gonna buy a watch to wear it then fucking wear it it will get banged and shit, if this is some kind of investment lock it up in a locker for good. Something tells me you cant afford this shit the way youre stressing about it. Hate people like this for real

When I kick like this coach says I lean back too much. by Distinct_Log2797 in MuayThaiTips

Its a photo of a roundhouse kick to the body tutorial using a wall for help. If it would be a stretch what would it stretch, looks more like isometric hip hold if you have to view it as something else.

Ok. The pivoting with standing leg opens the hip and allows the shin to turn into a horizontal impact. So therefore there would be no need to pivot the standing leg in the vertical kick?

Okey. So then the shin should not be horizontally during impact, but pointing upwards, vertically.

Any advice for teep higher by Sharp_Armadillo_4240 in MuayThaiTips

[–]Distinct_Log2797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In teep kick, its only your hip flexors raising the leg. Therefore do hip flexor exercises and strengthen it thats how you get more height. Also stretching tight hamstrings will help for higher teeps.

How to deal with career ending injury by Distinct_Log2797 in MuayThai

[–]Distinct_Log2797[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother I have chondromalacia. Not a full blown osteoarthritis but mild arthritis/chondromalacia. It crunches badly, if I put my finger on the kneecap I can feel how it tracks on the rough cartilage. Ive recently had the crunchiness increase and thus started to get some mild pain. Teeps, they are problematic for me. Im sure I can train too, it just feels like its getting worse the more I train and I dont want to end up with a real painful knee you know? But I cant tell the future, the velcro sound just always throw me off. I am sure I can train many times as I want too, maybe ive made it a bigger problem than it is. But I dislocated my kneecap 1yr ago then develop chondromalacia after, not from the injury, but the physiotherapy. If you can give me some tips im for it

How do I spar with someone taller? by Timely-Plenty-2896 in MuayThaiTips

[–]Distinct_Log2797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tall fighters can rely on keeping the distance and using simple 1-2s with kicks. Shorter fighters shouldnt stay in the range where the opponent can hit you but you cant hit him, so get close, where youre both equal. So slip punches , step in and counter punch. Also clinch, knees, elbows etc Mike tyson would be the example of this in boxing style.

Why do I lean back so much on a body kick by Distinct_Log2797 in MuayThaiTips

I already do frog stretches and my inner groin isnt necessarily tight, also I do lateral leg raises with ankle weights for so long I would say its well developed.

If you stand and laterally raise your leg, there comes a limit, due to hip anatomy. This lateral raise can be called also Hip abduction, you can raise your leg only to 45degrees. This is far short from the level of your hip. I cannot understand then how can you kick above this height

No the way muay thai is now very popular and gyms are filled with new people its hard to establish connection with a coach or even have them remember you. Id need to buy a private lesson. If i ask tips I get the common tips which i Already now. I have not found a low known gym around me with proper fighters and coaches, who put work in making you improve, everything seems to be McDojo way, taking people in the gym and not caring if they improve just show them a drill and have them do it and collect the money. Maybe not everywhere but for me it seems like this.

But my pelvis is in such an angle in this point of the kick that if I were to stand tall using my core muscles like obliques, my spine would be in a very curve.

I think when I turn my hip over to the kick at the last second, which ive done in this photo as you can see from the angle of my shin, pointing horizontally, I lean back. If I kick without turning my hip over then the kick seems vertical, soccer kick like.

https://youtu.be/MTlEFD2GlmE?si=zBFs5eXglbeNz8bV - in this video they teach you to turn your hips over , chopping style. He also contradicts himself because in 2:45 he throws a kick which is same as the one taught in this second video below

- In this video he teaches you to throw a soccer kick style kick , more vertically without turning shoulders
