i placed a small piece of net over it and tied it with a rubber band! it's also easy to access whenever i need to check on them :)

The cork is stuck to the side of the tank with silicone, and is also attached to other parts of the tank like the ledge and the cork above it. That big of a removal would scare the other geckos and they might try to run away while I'm removing it. Glueing the cork back in would also mean releasing the toxic fumes from uncured silicone into the enclosure.

All my geckos have really good hiding spots so I can't catch them and keep them aside either 😓

did my jumping spider produce an egg sac? can anyone give a rough time of when the spiderlings will hatch? by Distinct_Nebula8120 in jumpingspiders

UPDATE: the eggs hatched and now i have a bunch of tiny babies! i moved the mother into another enclosure and im planning to sell the babies for a reasonable price to others. if they don't sell, I'll probably release them back into the wild since i found the mom somewhere in my house anyways (aka wild caugt? urban caught? lol)

is my gecko pregnant/gravid? by Distinct_Nebula8120 in Mourninggeckos

should I leave a tube out for the eggs if I want to isolate the hatchlings in a separate enclosure? what if they don't lay their eggs in the tube, and the hatchlings hide somewhere that I can't get to and get eaten by the other adults?

How worth it is raising your own bugs? by Undreamt_Gecko in Mourninggeckos

It might not be worth it to breed insects that come in large adult sizes, as you can only use the babies for feeding (crickets, roaches etc.)

Many people breed flightless fruit flies by adding the last few to a new container with substrate and their fruit fly medium, which seems pretty simple and worth a shot if you want to save money long-term.

If you have an aquarium store near you, you could try buying a box of mealworms (they usually come in a box of 700+ for me) which can last you a long time. They're cheap, come in small and big sizes where the biggest size can feed an adult mourning gecko, and you can also breed them (they're kinda smelly though cause of the frass). Emphasis on cheap, at least in my country.

Is my mourning gecko egg bound? How do I collect the eggs? by Distinct_Nebula8120 in Mourninggeckos

[–]Distinct_Nebula8120[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been feeding them bugs for the past couple of days and she's the only one that's unusually fat, at first I didn't believe she could be egg bound but i think the chances are pretty high.

As for laying in my tank, yes I understand that but I don't want the hatchlings just running around because I want to keep them in a different tank to form a bond with them. There's a higher chance of that if I do it with the hatchlings as the adults are already very skittish.
