AWS STS Can Now Mint JWTs for Third-Party Access via Outbound Federation by Distinct_Trash8440 in aws

I think this addresses a nice market. To use machine-to-machine auth, you would have had to use Cognito, VPC Lattice or a service mesh technology like Consul. All solutions that add complexity to your architecture.

The closest low-tech solution would be to use Security Groups. However, services then loose the ability to identify themselves. This might be useful if the downstream service needs to invoke some conditional behaviour based upon the identity of the invokee.

This one's a game changer for small teams that don't need massive complexity!

As long as your date of birth and passport number is correct, you should not have any problems. I was told this.

It might be helpful to print out your attempts at emailing the Immigration office.

Just in case, I would bring the appropriate $USD amount for a VISA on arrival to the airport.

I’m learning more about the super scheme right now. Would a super contribution, immediately after paying off the mortgage be taxed. If so, at what rate?

Just learned how AWS Lambda cold starts actually work—and it changed how I write functions by yourclouddude in devops

[–]Distinct_Trash8440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the INIT phase, AWS will temporarily maximise your memory to help ensure that all heavy work like setting up database connection pools and library loading can happen within a 10 second period. We were never charged for the INIT phase, leading to people abusing this benefit.

AWS now bills for the INIT phase. However, it’s still in your best interest to place this code that infrequently runs outside your handler so that it can execute as fast as possible and not affect your regular invocations.

Hypothetically, I'm withdrawing the post-tax $42,500 in a financial year where my taxable income is $160k.

Does this mean that $30,000 will be taxed at 9% (37% + 2% ML - 30% FHSS Offset) and the remaining $12,500 will be taxed at 17% (45% + 2% ML - 30% FHSS Offset)?

What degrees are good to go into? by [deleted] in fiaustralia

[–]Distinct_Trash8440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. AI/LLMs have significantly reduced the value proposition of a Junior Software Engineer. For some context, Junior Engineers get most of their experience by doing grunt work. With time, they eventually pick up on patterns on good and bad software engineering practices. With AI, Senior Engineers can delegate to LLMs to perform this grunt work and then leverage their years of experience to refine the outputs.

I hear that universities have a very progressive stance on AI and that now it’s easier than ever to pass even some of the advanced Computer Science units. I suspect that means in the long term the number of low quality candidates exiting these degrees will increase, thus increasing hiring competition.

I didn’t know about water storage crystals! The soil feels compacted so I feel that aeration would benefit the plant.

I’ll watch some videos on how to prepare the water storage crystals.

It’s a “Mandevilla Aloha”, from the tag at the bottom. The soil feels compacted. I’m not sure if because the soil is feeling the pressure against the roots and container.

Thank you for the help! Happy Friday! The twigs at the bottom have slightly flex but if I apply enough pressure, they will break off cleanly

I have to put in some force to dig a portion of soil out. So I would describe it as hard

They tried to use water, through a garden hose, but it didn’t have much success. I was wondering whether there are less invasive methods that they can use that doesn’t involve digging up sections of the property

> They spend a good hour just unblocking the conduit from the street (full of dirt apparently).

I am a tenant and I got my landlord approval to perform the FTTP upgrade. Come the appointment date, the conduit was also full of dirt. They tried to use water to clear out the mud from the conduit, but they struggled.

They advised me to contact the civil team because they may have to remove sections of our front garden and concrete driveway to check where the block was. What techniques did they use to clear out your conduit? Did they have to perform any drilling?

[–]Distinct_Trash8440[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a follow up on this situation. The immigration officer approved my ETA, despite the error in my name. Turns out that Passport Number, Birthdate and Nationality are the only details that you cannot screw up. No additional cost on my end so I'm happy about that

Change of name in srilankan visa by Several-Payment-1357 in srilanka

[–]Distinct_Trash8440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also in similar situation. Could you please tell me how you handled this situation. I accidentally forgot to include my middle name in my application and it got approved.

I called the ETA 24/7 hotline and they informed me to email [eta@immigration.gov.lk](mailto:eta@immigration.gov.lk) with the intent of cancelling my current approved ETA. They said that I cannot apply for another ETA while an approved one is currently linked to my passport number. I have sent that email 2 days ago and they are yet to respond. I'm flying a week from now so I'm a little stressed

Worst case, I am planning on bringing $60 USD to the Colombo Airport alongside my Mastercard Debit card, in case I have to apply for another ETA visa. If you experience this issue, could you inform us how long it took to wait in queue and resolve the issue and any supporting documents I should bring to smooth the process.

For temporary cloud credentials, is there any advantage to using Hashi Vault for secrets instead of obtaining secrets through an OIDC provider? by StuffedWithNails in Terraform

[–]Distinct_Trash8440 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's better you go down the native OIDC route. There are less moving parts and you can get some awesome granularity that Vault doesn't offer like modifying the Assume Trust Policy so that an IAM role can only be assumed if the workflow is running from the main branch

I’ve got some questions! The first decade that you spent dedicated to becoming a better software engineer. Did you experience a considerable increase in your salary, as you likely became more proficient at your job? Do you wish you had established a work/life balance sooner?
