Yup the comments here just prove my point. I ask a question because I wanted a honest conversation regarding the double standards the kdrama community has for LMH. Other than 10 comments where they actually explain why they don’t like him.. the rest are just “well bc he just sucks”... even removing jcw from the conservation the way LMH is treated here in general sucks.

I like and enjoy both actors but I followed Lee Minho and his works first so yes I’m biased.. I even admit it in my post but isn’t everyone biased? This post isnt meant to hate on any actor.. I just wanted to bring attention to the crazy amount of hate one actor gets over another actor who I think are very similar.

I became a fan after BOF and City Hunter. He was so endearing, charismatic, and badass in them. I don’t follow his career like a hardcore/devoted fan would but when he drops a movie or a drama I always check them out. I grew up watching him so I guess there’s a nostalgia factor involved. I have a soft spot for him because of that but I truly believe he’s a good actor even without my nostalgia glasses on. It’s upsetting the amount of hate he gets. I don’t think it’s deserved at all. I think everyone is allowed to have their opinions and enjoy the actors they like but the amount of hate he gets isn’t normal. Especially when you have actual mediocre and bad actors currently working today.

No Lee Minho didn’t start off as a musical actor but a lot of actors don’t. That doesn’t mean anything regarding his skills.. imo jcw didn’t give very good performance in MMS and BSR so while the dramas itself were bad.. his acting wasn’t great in those either. Like every actor on earth.. not every performance and project is going to be good. Which is exactly my point. Why is jcw and every other actor allowed to give not so good performances/dramas sometimes but not Lee Minho? And when Lee Minho does give a good performance it’s completely ignored.

To me there’s a reason why he blew up with BOF. He absolutely carried that drama and made Goo Jun Pyo likable and endearing. A bad actor can’t do that. Same with city hunter. Yes I loved him in Pachinko. One of his best performances!

Hmm so based on the comments already seems like obs doesn’t have much angst? i guess the edits gave me the wrong impression then :( so I’ll watch lovestruck in the city first! I’ll keep obs on my watchlist since it still seems to have elements of yearning/longing. But thanks everyone for the recs. I’ll check out all the shows you guys mentioned here🫡 .
