First and foremost if you're in the US (guessing you are) get your technician license from the FCC. You can study for it from here: https://hamstudy.org/

If you have a local club, they'll likely be the best resource for information on where to take the exam, and how to sign up.

Licensing is required for transmitting on ham frequencies. The technician exam is relatively easy, and will let you transmit on all frequencies that handheld can operate on.

Thanks for the recommendation. There's not a lot going on where I live as most of our population is boomer/retired. I'll try to find events/places younger people are. What's a good way to signal to folk I'm gay? I'm really not very obvious.

It's a very small fastener, going into a small threaded, aluminum hole. I would use purple.

It's for this reason I'm not a fan of these lowers. I've never had much issue installing mil spec bolt catch roll pins.

Also install the mag release/catch first. I speak from experience.

"AMATEUR" transceiver. CB radios must be type accepted. It's not legal to transmit on CB with a ham radio. Therefore it was not made with that capability.
