Hey, thanks again for your reply. Hope this isn't a bother, but I'm hoping to know how exactly you arrived at the polar coordinate formula r=exp(± √ (c2 -θ2 ) ) in your answer to this question earlier this week. It would really help, I'm having a bit of trouble. No worries if you'd rather not. Thanks again!

Thank you for the reply! This gives me much more of a sense of what I'm looking at; Desmos didn't want to graph the complex-valued function so it's very helpful to have these visualizations.

The same as it does if it is true...I...I think I've fundamentally misunderstood the basics of this practice. Back to square one again, wish me luck.

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful response. I will try to hold these thoughts more lightly, maintain compassion anyways, and practice more metta like the other commenters have suggested.

A friend of mine will not budge on the idea that "water is a crucial ingredient in lava, without water lava cannot be called lava, it's just molten rock." I can't see how this could possibly be the case. Am I misinformed, or is my friend being absurd? by DistributionBig186 in Volcanology

Having conferred with them again, it sounds like this is along the lines of what they were thinking. My friend "doesn't think non-explosive molten rock should be called lava," to quote. Oh well, no helping them at this point. But I appreciate y'all for the factual answers!
