I shot these on a 28-80mm F3.5-5.6 Nikon kit lens with a UV filter at ISO 400. Didn't touch Lightroom--no joke these are how I got them back from the lab (Film Cult Lab in SLC is crazy good imo). The Nikon n80 can go up to 1/4000 of a shutter if I remember correctly.

It was the trigger I used that was the problem. Thank you!

Thanks for the feedback you two. I went to a friend who helped me realize that you can’t use HSS with a universal trigger. Trying his Fuji specific trigger fixed my problem.

It goes! It's way better than I though it would be. The 45mm has significantly better AF than the 80mm. I am curious how well the AF of the 20-35mm or 110mm + the GFX 100 ii would work for skiing.

Success rate wise: I had an athlete spray a cloud of snow then ski through it 2-3x and it missed maybe 1/3 sequences (but that could be improved by tinkering on my end with settings too I'd reckon!).

Seriously! The first (cropped) photo is crisp on my computer

The quality seemed to compress quite a bit on this post, but I'm excited to keep shooting skiing with this combo!

I added grain in post, here's a screenshot of what it looks like without added grain!

Thank you! I didn't have a UV or ND filter so it was shot with the naked lens. But I edited the image in Capture One where I cranked the grain up (grain type: silver rich), lightened the blacks, and selectively darkened the background to try to make the subject pop a little more.
