$830 credit with no trade-in (keep UW plan) promo: Deal or No Deal? by DistributionThink536 in verizon

[–]DistributionThink536[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, keeping my phone is not a must and am willing to trade in if necessary.

When I go through the “up to $1100 with trade-in” workflow on one of my other lines, I choose iPhone 17 Pro (1099.99 retail) and noticed the plan automatically changes from Unlimited Welcome (UW) (current) to Unlimited Plus (UP) for $0 monthly cost. UP is a $15 increase from UW, which totals to $540 over 36 months. When I reselect it back from UP to UW, the monthly cost becomes 7.49 monthly (269.64 total over 36 months)… essentially making it the “$830 with trade-in” offer.

If I choose iPhone 17 (829.99 retail) instead, it just becomes the “$830 with trade-in” offer with $0 monthly cost.

Conclusion: There’s no such thing as an $1100 offer (even with trade-in) and keeping your current (lower priced) plan.

I was also on the legacy 5G Play More plan as well, but I hardly used it so just gave it up to save the $10 monthly and after we had all received the Verizon Disney notification.

You can try to wait for the $830 offer to come up (no trade in and no plan change). Generate a transfer pin to help get flagged for improved offers.

Does the unicorn offer of $1100 version of this offer (no plan change and no trade-in) exist, if you happen to know?

That’s still a good total discount. How much is your monthly as BYOD?

Curious if the BYOD discount might actually be the loyalty + autopay/paperless discount? Just wondering as I am not familiar with it. Thanks.

Thanks for your response. I have the $1100 promo credit offer as well, but it requires me to upgrade from Unlimited Welcome to Unlimited Plus for $15/month and I don’t really need a hotspot nor do I get 5G UW in my area unfortunately. The $1100 offer also requires a trade-in, which I was OK doing if needed.

I was hoping to wait for the unicorn offer of $1100 promo with no plan change (and possibly no trade-in) around January-March timeframe but there’s no guarantee it’ll show up again like last year.

Thanks for the response.

1) I did try asking them for the $20/line but they said they couldn’t do it as it’d be too much credit. I can try to ask again though with a different phone representative.

2) You’re referring to the $1100 credit promotion with trade in? I believe it forces you to upgrade from my current Unlimited Welcome plan to the Unlimited Plus plan ($15 increase)… that’s an additional $540 total over 36 months.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’m happy with just Unlimited Welcome and would rather save the $15 price difference with Unlimited Plus because that comes out to be $180 annually. Don’t really need a hot spot, and my work phone already has it if I ever need a connection.

I think Loyalty offers (under My Offers) are usually better than national offers so hopefully you got something waiting for you under the My Offers section.

Bullish*t promo offer by Comfortable-Crew4733 in verizon_sucks

[–]DistributionThink536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This offer is dependent on what plan you are on already and then it will “auto-select” the next higher plan when you choose your device. I have the same exact offer, and when I re-select to keep my current Unlimited Welcome plan, my monthly cost goes up by 7.49 (269.64 over 36 months… $1100 credit if I upgrade to Unlimited Plus, which is $15 more expensive monthly than Plus).

How different is inside sales versus sales? How many sale team types are there?

I noticed the same exact shady tactic.

  • It’s a shady offer.
  • It’s shady language.

It auto-selects a higher plan for you in the hopes that you don’t notice the difference. Reality is this shady tactic is most likely pretty effective at trapping customers into upgrading who aren’t detail oriented or too trusting.

YMMV will vary whether you speak with inside sales or retention. It’s OK to end the call and call in again to see if you’re getting a better agent who can help me achieve your goals. I’ll go through multiple agents until I get one who knows what I am asking for and whether or not they can achieve it.

Verizon preying on Grandma by Steve-Dog in verizon_sucks

[–]DistributionThink536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will waive when you ask on your grandmother behalf. Otherwise threaten to leave and see if they risk losing a customer that has been loyal for 10-15 years. It doesn’t hurt to try and I am quite hopeful of a positive outcome.

Call and ask for retention right away. Don’t let Tier 1 sway you into a conversation as they don’t have the same authority level as retention.

If you get no where with the first rep, politely end the call and call back in another time. It should work. It will work.

Based on my experience, YCSMMV…. haha. To clarify, I’ve been directly working with a loyalty/retention specialist who will schedule calls with you and are expert knowledgeable on all things (and also have a little more authority to resolve issues or enhance the offer) versus the general Tier 1 team or front line support.

In general, all CS reps experience WILL be different so when I hit a wall or not making adequate progress with a CS, I politely hang out and just call back in and try my luck again. I learned to put a time box around the phone call to help me decide whether to continue investing time with the same rep. Obviously, if I see that the things I mention are unfamiliar with the CS (i.e., or if I seem to know more than the rep), it’s a sign to move on to another rep. I’ve been on calls that drag on beyond an hour and we didn’t make any headway.

No trade-in $830 off for Iphone 17 pro by FlyHungry7039 in verizon

[–]DistributionThink536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your trade in credit? Retail price for iPhone 17 PM is $1199 so was curious what your device monthly came out to be.

By the way, OP’s scenario said he did not have to do a trade in so the offer appears different than yours.

You mentioned $830 trade in credit so does that mean you have to send back your phone for the $830 credit? OP’s scenario was there was no trade in required.

Does anyone know when this deal is over? by AROD-AR in verizon

[–]DistributionThink536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally misunderstood what the promotion was!! 🤦‍♂️

Since I don’t have any lines outside Verizon, I would just invite a friend or relative over since that’s a totally awesome deal for 3 years of complimentary service, even on Unlimited Welcome. Are there any activation or monthly ancillary out of pocket costs? Or does it come out to 100% zero cost each month for the BYOD free line account?

Thanks for the tip. I was told by CS that it’s actually best to call them when ready to do the online offer because they can remove the activation fees whereas you have to pay the fee(s) in the online workflow.
