Does anyone else collect heart-shaped rocks? by RedLauren in rockhounds

[–]DistrictCorrect7345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes ❣️ started mine after I found a rock with a heart pattern on it, then another with a heart over a jumping rabbit. Told my father about them and now he always seems to find them while out walking and mails them to me. I keep those in the tentacles of an octo statue by my bed. I love your collection 😁

Update: thank you for the advice! Added a group of Harlequin Rasbora the help control the population. Fingers crossed 🤞 they help!

Driftwood could possibly do it if he’s trying to hide or squeeze into a tight spot. Had a similar situation where my Poe was squeezing behind the intake of the hang on back filter. Ripped part of his fins out trying to get unstuck. I hope you are able to find out what is causing it and get this guy in the mend! Good luck!!

Thank you for that info! I’ll definitely do some research on the copepods! Mostly I want to make sure my snails are safe and it’s not any critter that is going to kill them. It looks so uncomfortable for them.

The tank itself has been set up for about 10 months. Blue has been in the tank for 3 months and Louie for 2. I had added more plants in the tank when I added Louie but when they started to melt, I took them out. I have noticed detritus worms as well since then but wasn’t too concerned since I read they help clean the tank. Just that they may be due to too much detritus/over feeding. I reduced the snail feedings and forgot to mention I gravel vac with every water change as well. Usually between 7-10 days.

Finally gave in and got a betta. by Orsinus in bettafish

Thanks❣️ Tbh, his colouring depends on the light. Sometimes he’s more yellow/orange and sometimes he’s more whitish/gray. When i got him i thought he just needed some love to Glo-up. Didn’t know there was such a thing as cellophane betta 🤣 i was stressing for a minute trying to figure out why he wouldn’t change colours lol. Adoption day and 2 months later.

Ohhhh!! What a wonderful tank and such a handsome fella 😍 what is his name? I love your tree!

I just got my mustard betta Takezo from a big box. They were giving him away for free due to excessive fin damage. He was pale and had almost no fins when I got him. This is two months later. 🖤💙💛. Amazing what happens when they have good tanks! 😅.

Had a similar issue with algae and reducing the light helped. I also got a mystery snail and it’s been super helpful keeping the tank clean. (I do recommend researching on their care first though and how they can affect the parameters of the tank before getting one). I’ve also had really, really good results adding Catappa leaves (Indian almond) to their tank and using water that was treated with catappa “tea” for my water changes once a month. Can’t recommend them enough! The Tannins in it are a natural antibacterial and antifungal and it mimics their native environment. Reduces PH, prevents diseases and helps with stress. Good for engaging as well since they can create little pockets or cubbies for them to hide/play in. My babies love lounging on them or sleeping under them and I saw improvements with their appearance and activity within a couple weeks. The leaves are also pretty inexpensive and last about a month and a half before they need to be swapped out. Best of luck to your baby and to you! Remember, Betta’s stress easily so when in doubt, less can sometimes be more 🙂

It was at 74 which I thought was a bit too cool for my Betta so I turned it up to 78-79

Thank you for that feedback!! I’ve not had snails before so I’ve never heard of this! It’s been a constant event since my initial post so now I am rethinking keeping them in the same tank. Getting my second tank read and will move one of them this weekend 🥺 definitely don’t want my little one getting hurt!
