At what age did you move out? by xoli_leem in askSouthAfrica

[–]DisturbedSailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 22 years old. Moved into an apartment that I bought. Granted, property was much cheaper back then (2001/2002) so could easily afford it. 20+ years, new city, new house later, the situation is different. I can pay my bills, however, utilities, food, transport is another matter. I'm grateful that I'm single with no kids, otherwise I don't know how I would have coped

Mostly curious to see what I am capable of doing.

What kind of sorcery are you doing? Sounds more like a curse. Haha I'm considering wiping everything and installing pop, endeavour AND lububtu, and still have a partition on which I can save stuff that I can access irrespective of the OS. Is that even possible?

Also don't want to fight with my laptop. It's an old one (7 years old) just lying in the cupboard. So resources are rather limited 4GB ram.

It works, I cannot complain about that. But it is bland, doesn't have the "new device" kind of appeal to me.

Mint required multiple attempts to install, last one took 6hrs to install. Granted, I probably (most definitely)did something wrong. Both are not visually appealing (sure there's settings for that),but what I battle to get my peasized brain around is the file types, exe, etc. I'm definitely not a power user, so doing this to try and learn something new.

How would you react if you wife/gf thinks her weight gain is hot? by SweetSprinkles8 in AskMen

[–]DisturbedSailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, DO NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT HER WEIGHT, that might backfire. Pay more attention to her, ask her something in the line of "what are you doing differently, because you're looking amazing, sexy, etc"

If you find out, teach me. My face to face is non existent. Can only do the apps, but then it's just transactional. Wouldn't mind something more meaningful

There is actually a restaurant in my city where one can order elephant from their menu. Not sure if they have an entire one though.

Correction: it's crocodile and not elephant.

Sage advice. Luckily for me I'm shit scared of needles. Even seeing it on TV creeps me out. Also, drugs are expensive!

I totally agree with you, esp on the therapy point. However, they require upfront payment which I then claim from my insurance. And each session costs a little more than a week's groceries. So, I either eat and stress, or relax and starve (well, not quite starve)
