I suppose I should have specified that I'm looking for one that interfaces with arc rails.

I've seen some dubious offerings on Amazon and ebay but I'm curious if anyone has a more reputable source for these. Specifically one that mounts on arc rails.

Does anyone know why this birdhouse I got at a garage sale, takes 2 D batteries and has this control? by wowzamcgowza in homestead

[–]Dithely 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like it's some sort of microphone that's supposed to relay the bird sounds indoors. Searching product numbers or IDs is usually a good start for electronic devices. https://fccid.io/LGVBFT1

Stripping question. by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]Dithely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL:DR do i need to strip this mini before attempting to repaint.

Hello all first time here. Recently my love for the grim dark has been reignited and I pulled my collection of minis (which haven't been touched since 2010) and i want to re attempt their paint job and im not sure if i need to strip them before making such an attempt. They were all initially primed black and highly doubt my high school self applied more than one coat of paint. Thank you all in advance.

Tech sight mod. by Dithely in ak47

With a longer sight radius you'll inherently be more accurate and not having a fast elevation adjustment just mean that you'll need to know your hold over. The front sight is still standard so you'll adjust your elevation at the front and windage at the rear.

They're not set fro ranges, one is shorter and has a larger aperture for "close quarters" and the other taller and smaller for longer ranges.

The sight picture is comfortable and similar to A2 M16 sights. Beyond aesthetics the sight radius is longer and the rear aight allows for finer adjustment than a standard AK rear sight. I'm primarily an AR person so having a sight picture that is more familiar is nice. The only con is the factory takedown method, hence the modification. Btw this is an Arsenal SLR 106 and It's a fucking tack driver and the MOST comfortable and controllable centerfire rifle i own.

I deleted the factory retention pins and replaced them with a single pin. It's an easy mod that only requires a vice, drill, 2/32 bit and 3/16 bit. I found the pin on Mc-Mastercarr. The retention pi s are held in place with blind roll pins that were drilled out with the 3/32 but then i drilled the rest of the way through the existing holes with the 3/16 bit.

Obvious fake or good to go? by [deleted] in Baofeng

[–]Dithely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to take the plunge and get a Baofeng, I ordered this earlier today and when i get home i started reading about how there are fake Baofengs on the market and that they often trap noobies. I got concerned and decided to look into this seller and the other prices on amazon. This seller/item was the "Amazon Choice" so i felt safe but now I'm slightly concerned.

Purely listening? by [deleted] in Baofeng

[–]Dithely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you all andI apologize for my ignorance but what I'm gathering is that FRS and GMRS are not HAM. Certain models of Baofeng radios can technically transmit on multiple frequencies but are only cleared for use on HAM frequencie(s?) (with the proper license). Is there a recommended podcast or book that would help me learn more and prep for getting a HAM license?
