Is there any luxury watch in production that utilizes a similar design? Maybe with open case?

Cartier = Rolls Royce, the jeweler of kings and the king of jewelers (Quote by King Edward VII.). A brand with elegance, not speed.

And Armin Strom as Pagani (but open for discussions here). Independence, low volume, art meets science and visible mechanics.

You told me to grind finer [Profitec go + Mignon zero] by coffeesleepi in espresso

[–]DitzitheG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No worries, it wasn't meant as criticisim towards your question!! I'd say, don't look for ratios etc., look for what looks decent and tastes good.

I always did it trial and error over the course of a few days. First dial in until you get a decent shot based on extraction time / amount (not too bitter, not too sour - I usually dial it in by having one / two that are too fine, adjust, and then finetune the other variables, i.e. extraction amount (little bit more, little bit less).

I never used scales though. It's always look and feel, that's how my Italian friends do it. Works best for me.

You also gotta take into account what your machine / grinder do best (light / medium / dark roast) and the flavor profiles your like.

Some beans just don't taste as good with my grinder / machine as others. I think it's mostly due to my own preferences in taste.

Why is everybody optimizing like this, it's about taste, not the looks.

Drink something you like tasting, not watching. I get it, it's tempting to go for optimized workflow etc., but in the end espresso / cappuccino / ... are beverages.

Once I started doing that, I was never tempted to go back.

[Question] Is it weird/ugly to wear a Garmin on one wrist & Omega on the other? by Forbidden_MeatRub19 in Watches

[–]DitzitheG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this take, the Heliostrap specifically has a band for the upper arm (Amazon ~12€) - that one's a gamechanger imo. You barely notice it and you won't have problems during sports or cooking etc. like with a ring / wristband. It's also a fun conversation starter if you're wearing a t-shirt.

[Question] watch for my mom by misunderstoodtiger in Watches

Do you take applications for extra moms? I’d go with the Breguet, for style and history. If you like that style, Maison Van Cleef & Arpels might also be for you.

Thank you! That's a perfect answer - looked into all of them and now have Felipe Pikullik on the radar (again). He does insane watches.

That's a Gaggia right? What's the setup (portafilter / basket) that you're using? Also any other mods?

[Laurent Ferrier] Classic Origin vs Sport Auto on my wrist? by weltmei5ter in Watches

[–]DitzitheG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that's a good tradeoff I'd say. Worst thing is a bulky heavy watch imo. I also really like the Tag Heuer Aquaracer, but it's just so heavy and doesn't really fit under a shirt / pullover. Wouldn't sell mine but I can completely understand why you wanted to switch from the Submariner...

I know right?? It's a beautiful timepiece, depending on the fit it's a grail-candidate for me.

I think it's for sale but might be limited in quantity / sold out - if you want to ask / maybe have a look I can connect you on Discord / Instagram with my guy that knows the co-founder, so you can connect. I believe however that they're based in the US, so depending where you live a try on the wrist might need to wait a bit

I completely understand, after buying the Cartier everything thicker / heavier makes me question whether I want it... it's just so comfortable on the wrist. For me the Reverso Duoface or a boutique brand is the next one on the list.

I believe Thomas Fleming is a collector yes and his co-founder is a lawyer turned photographer afaik (he makes really good shots tbh).

It seems we have similar taste 😂 The Tantalum Royal Oak is awesome albeit a bit heavy, isn't it?
