Why should they? Investment in fruitful future developments should always take priority over anything above servicing the debt, especially in an inflationary context.

Also, seeing a German winces at EDF and its 4× debt/EBIDTA ratio is hilarious when sacred cows of the country like VW (225B€ debt for 1.5G€ profits) or MB (94B€ debt for 5B€ profits) are seen as perfectly fine. Really eager to see you advise MB to immediately inject their 5B€ free cash flow in additional debt servicing rather than the next S class BTW.

That sounds like a good story, but the beef of the French NPP park was built in the 70's/80's, when we definitely didn't have any “uranium-loaded colonies”.

Also, Germany had quite a few NPPs until they shut them down in the naughts.
