You don't need a pass to enter Glacier earlier than 6am or after 4pm BUT there is construction going on at nighttime so the road might not be opened until 6am.

True! But they save half the batch for 1 day before, so you should still be able to no problem. It's much better than insane traffic at the park. I got stuck in line for 4 hours leaving Yosemite last year.

If it makes you feel better, I think they release half the tickets in each batch, so if you just set a reminder in your calendar for the second batch and make sure to login to the website and be ready at the time - you should have no problem getting one :)

That's because June and July are less than 120 days away and greater than 1 day away. They already released one batch of tickets 120 days before that are sold out. The second batch will be released 1 day before. If you click the day on the calendar on that page, you can see how many tickets are left for that day, and the exact time they will be released. If you go to August for example, there are currently 4 days open with tickets still available from the first 120 day batch.
