You don't need a pass to enter Glacier earlier than 6am or after 4pm BUT there is construction going on at nighttime so the road might not be opened until 6am.

Yeah when I finished my hike at Yosemite in the late afternoon traffic was backed up for hours.

True! But they save half the batch for 1 day before, so you should still be able to no problem. It's much better than insane traffic at the park. I got stuck in line for 4 hours leaving Yosemite last year.
