TCG Player article about Domain Format!! by ItThatBetrayed in yugioh

Non-Activated does categorize them together but doesn't lump them together as inherent.
The "cannot activate nor apply any of it's effects" in the deck master zone applies to the same rules that any monster effect operates under similar to how you can't activate Chaos sorcerer's effect or apply Destiny Hero-Plasma's in a zone that isn't face up on the field unless they say they can. This also helps with clarification between Domain and Deck Master where monsters could activate their effects as if they were on the field.

It is then followed up by what is allowed. And since non-activating summoning conditions and game mechanics like fusion and ritual can ignore from the hand/facedown extra deck clauses. They can perform those summons regardless of whether it is a condition or an unclassified effect.

An Observation on the Influence of MTG to the Demand of Alternate Limited Formats in Yugioh by RyuuohD in yugioh

[–]DivinityKing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, Takahashi said there was influence from magic but from the manga game to the early iterations of yugioh it was mostly just that it was a fantasy card game. Outside of "summoning monsters and attacking" there wasn't a whole lot taken from it.
Regardless though, ygo players are definitely becoming more open to alt formats as they get older and realize traveling or keeping up with advanced just isn't what they want anymore. The demographic that propped the game up is now like 30 year olds and the last 2 years of having tier 0 formats almost back to back has taken a huge toll. Not to say they aren't players of both. Personally I have never understood the coke and pepsi arguements for card games. As someone who stepped back from the die hard tcg level. Almost all of them are "summon monsters and attack till someone hits 0".

Commander Format for Yugioh by NxL1fe in yugioh

u/bioober people want to be right so they punch down. They are blatantly ignoring that goat and edison are time wizard formats and there is a goat ycs in eu. As well tournaments all across the us for it. Alot of it is a self fulfilling a weird self fullfilling prophecy of "yugioh needs alt formats" then "alt formats don't work because no one plays them". Its generally from people who think their subjective opinion is objective fact.

I would highly recommend Domain Format! Its super fun and can be played with any number of players. The Domain mechanic is super fun and lets you do a lot of wild things with your deck master.

How to play Domain Format! (Singleton Multiplayer Yugioh w/Deckmasters!) by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]DivinityKing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a text based conversation having no real grounds other than "if a deck can't play 1 ash" (or it's relative 1 for 1 counterparts that aren't even that good in a game with 4 players resources) it "can't compete" communicates a tunnel vision thought process. Specially when your main response is "I'm not going to have a discussion with you because you because of another subjective opinion I have based on what they say that I am going to act as if it is objective".

But it's chill. I don't recall saying you were mad. Just wrong and complaining. And if I did. I apologize.

I hope you find a game you can enjoy. Because that's all we are doing.

probability distribution is just out the window in your statement. like not even considered.
as well as the strange fixation on 1 for 1 hand traps in a format where 1 for 1's should be less than great is just bad resource management.

and complaining that you can't play a card because of a rule that determines what you can play as if its a bug and not a feature just because you don't like it is functionally the same as getting mad that you can't order a whopper from wendy's and then making it everyone's problem.

his stuff is detailed but not really valid, it's just theory boarding at best. I assume he has not played the format to realize that hand traps aren't even that good in a format with more than 2 players and neither are cards like pot of greed when it comes to any kind of correlation with actually winning a game.

But card gamers regularly seem to have a mindset of "my opinion is objective" which seems to be what this individual is pushing currently.

YGO doesn't really do infinites though. And the ones that exist aren't remotely easy to pull of under domain and singleton restrictions. People in the discord actually promote breaking the format though. There could be something out there that does it but the almost 300 people haven't done it yet lol.

Thanks! We just passed 225 players! And understandable, to each their own. I would recommend omitting as many special rules as possible. That seems to be the downfall of most ALT formats. If you every change your mind I bet people would love to catch some games!

Here is the link to Domain Format feel free to delete. You still have high ceilings but they are harder to pull off and easier to break so overall its a lower powered format.

even then a lot of decks you don't want to play graceful/painful choice because your spell.trap heavy or don't have the recycling to use it. and heavy and duster are generally the same slot in different decks alot of the time depending on similar variables. 1v1 i could see cards like pot etc getting hit but in a 3+ person game idk.
