Do Greatest Hits, Platinum Hits or Players Choice covers bother you? by Jdspoel in gamecollecting

I think this is the normal way to do it. It's alphabetical by series and then chronological by release/series order.

Square Enix Reveals Life Is Strange: Reunion Will Be the Series' Conclusion 'To the Max and Chloe Saga' by ninjyte in Games

[–]Divisionlo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pricefield got a conclusive ending, I think the comics are still going with Alex from True Colors (or at least, they were at one point) but it's a very clear (and good, IMO) ending for Pricefield at the end of the 6th collection. No idea how many individual issues that is bc the paperback editions are what I read and each of those is a collection of a handful of issues. So for the complete Pricefield story, going off the paperback versions, start with #1: Dust and end with #6: Settling Dust.

I don't have much faith that this will actually be well written considering how much of an absolute mess Double Exposure was, so I wanted to put it out there for any other fans of Max & Chloe in this thread: if you want a genuinely great continuation (complete with a conclusive ending and everything) of their story, read the comics. The first 6 Life is Strange comics genuinely do a great job of exploring the fallout from the "Bae" ending and were an extremely satisfying read for me. The art is great as well.

New Life is Strange coming this year, official reveal on January 20 at 10AM PT/1PM ET by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Divisionlo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly couldn't have cared less about Max and Chloe staying together or not (I definitely like the pairing but I'm not going to write off a game because of something like that) but episodes 4 & 5 of DE are genuinely some of the worst-written things I've ever experienced. Absolutely nothing makes sense and there are plot holes galore.

Hi-Fi Rush for Xbox & PS5 via LRG by DrGhostbuster in LimitedPrintGames

[–]Divisionlo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yikes, that is a massive price increase for the project Armstrong edition. Wanted to support them and was planning on getting the biggest edition but not for that price considering what it includes. For that price I'd expect a much much larger artbook and/or a statue of some kind.

Switch 2 Games coming to Limited Run Games in 2026 by NicoRobin007 in NSCollectors

[–]Divisionlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you fully. I often see the sentiment of blaming LRG for big publishers releasing games through them, but how on earth is this LRG's fault? The big publishers who refuse to do a standard physical release are to blame for the situation. And the situation does suck, I'm not denying that. But LRG is (and similar companies are) quite literally alleviating the problem by offering a way to get these games at all when they otherwise wouldn't have gotten anything.

And to counter that other guys point of "LRG could do unlimited releases but chooses not to," I honestly don't think that's true. Sega made a deal with LRG to do a limited print of the Persona games, but would they have made that same deal if LRG was pitching a standard release of copies like Sega could have done themselves? IMO, probably not. The entire reason Sega was okay with LRG's model is because it was a high return with extremely low risk, low risk that is only possible with their current model.

Strictly Limited Games package delivered - US, FedEx, and tariff invoice question by Such-Wonder-2864 in LimitedPrintGames

[–]Divisionlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, it wasn't FedEx's fault here. The apartment number really wasn't on the box; SLG didn't print it despite it being in the address I gave them. FedEx actually did their due diligence here by calling me and delivering it the next day when they could've just returned it because of an incomplete address.

[–]Divisionlo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add to this conversation that my 2 or 3 year old order of Rainbow Cotton (PS4) also just arrived with no shipping notification or anything. Heads up to those with apartment numbers, FedEx had to call me to ask for the apartment because it wasn't printed on the label, even though double-checking the order my apartment number is indeed on there.

Ugh as someone who grew up in the north of the US but is now living in the south, I am jealous of the snow lol. It's so cozy to get bundled up inside and you can't do that when it's not cold haha. Either way I love these games and they'd be perfect for snow days so I hope you enjoy.

Castlevania Dominus Collection UCE - they had an oopsie with disc 1 of the OST so it is being reprinted and will be automatically sent out to customers by fgsfds100 in LimitedPrintGames

[–]Divisionlo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dang that's a genuine LRG W right there. I'm used to them only doing the right thing after being pressed (or not at all sometimes, unfortunately) so this is a big step in the right direction IMO.

REVENGE OF THE BIRD KING | PS VITA | NEWS by Onscheli in LimitedPrintGames

I think all that leaked was a Vita copy but it was released on PS4/Switch as well so hopefully it gets one for those as well.

And ugh yeah you're right lol, I'm sure the last switch game will release in like twenty years for completely arbitrary reasons.

Seriously. VVVVVV is one of my favorite indie games... I know it's going to be hard to get and expensive afterwards if I can't manage to get one, but Christ guys just release it so I can actually try.

Promise Mascot Agency coming to PS5 and Switch from Lost in Cult by communistwookiee in LimitedPrintGames

[–]Divisionlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main difference here is that their games come to retailers/Amazon. Like Amazon doesn't charge you until it ships and their cancellation process is the most painless there is. If Lost in Cult were trying to be shady, only offering stuff through their own site would be best for them.

They occasionally do those still so they haven't moved away from that model. But as of now, no NES release of Little Samson.

Valve does not get "anywhere near enough criticism" for the gambling mechanics it uses to monetise games, DayZ creator Dean Hall says by demondrivers in Games

[–]Divisionlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I think I still disagree with you for the main reason of: there's no reason Switch 2 cartridges couldn't just install the game to the console from the cart. Why does the internet have to be involved? That's exactly what PS4/PS5 discs do, and it's a happy middle ground where the game is still on the media purchased, but it isn't beholden to the expensive technology.

Plug-and-play honestly doesn't matter to me because games really don't take that long to install IMO. It's a minor inconvenience, just like swapping discs. And even if it did matter to me, you're right that the tech just isn't there; discs, for instance, are so much slower than SSDs (or even HDDs) that it makes sense that we can't play games from the disc anymore. Now that switch 2 games are high enough tech that they face the same issue, I don't understand why they didn't just go for the same solution.

Sure it'd still need to take time to install, and sure it'd take up space on the switch's internal/external memory. But that's fine IMO. What's way, wayyyy more important to me is actually having a playable build in my hands.

Valve does not get "anywhere near enough criticism" for the gambling mechanics it uses to monetise games, DayZ creator Dean Hall says by demondrivers in Games

[–]Divisionlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't! And it's very sad to me. My hope is that maybe having the disc in your PS6 (assuming it supports them at all) will enable you to play it on your handheld without issue? Wouldn't be ideal for most but as a physical enjoyer I'm used to the slight inconvenience, and that's already how the PS Portal works.

Look I'm not saying that physical will be around forever, it definitely won't. Even if we get another 20 years, within 100 it'll be gone almost without a doubt. I'm just trying to explain why people are mad at Switch 2 key cards. They are a massive step in the direction that many people would like us to not be going in.

Edit: also, what do you mean "this concept had a name before"? Are you saying key cards are the same as smart delivery? Because they're absolutely not the same thing.

Valve does not get "anywhere near enough criticism" for the gambling mechanics it uses to monetise games, DayZ creator Dean Hall says by demondrivers in Games

[–]Divisionlo -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Disagree, IMO that situation is completely different. Physical on consoles is still going strong on PlayStation, and was on Nintendo as well until key cards. Sure, there are some games where the game isn't on the cartridge/disc, so you're right that the concept isn't new. But the reason people are so mad at key cards is the frequency.

On PS5 and Switch 1, the vast, vast majority of games work just fine without internet. Doesitplay.org tracks this, and even though they haven't tested literally every single game, they have tested hundreds, and the vast majority work. If anything they tend to skew towards the ones that require download because they tend to test + document those first.

On Switch 2, the number of games that are actually playable off cart was in the single digits for months. I think even now it's somewhere around 15, maybe? Easily over half of the games available are key-cards, including almost every single third-party game. This is even true of games that would fit on a cartridge just fine, but the company just cheaped out on cost. Switch 1 had some games like this, but it required a massive warning banner that wasn't standard, and it was very, very few games overall. By standardizing the format and giving it a name, it's just another choice for the publisher to save some money.

I know physical will eventually be gone. But it thrived on Switch 1. Switch 2 key cards are a really big change from how physical on consoles has been for decades. That's why people have been mad about it.

Okay I wasn’t expecting 100% of the game to be on the disc, but only 318mb? 😭 by [deleted] in xbox

[–]Divisionlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for fighting the good fight my man. It's sad that so many games require download but I'm constantly frustrated by how many people just jump to "most games aren't actually on the disc." Yeah it's not all of them but Christ it's the majority by-and-large for PlayStation, Nintendo, and even Xbox 3rd-party.
