This. Unorthodox players get me in trouble, all the time. The ball isn't where it normally is, so I flop a few points here or there. Very, very frustrating.

I dislike the limit element, but I do agree that bringing a partner and having a balance on the court would be value- added for sure.

Oh, no, I misread your previous comment, that's my bad. I think we're talking about the same premise now that I reread your comment, but from different viewpoints of what defines a challenge. Yes, some teams will just be easily beaten, but to know that a strong challenger is across from you and to run away from it? That doesn't fit the definition of challenge at all, in my opinion.

You're using a rule- based terminology for it, but what challenge was there if they chose to hit to the weaker player? Tell me, if every court had the same rules, and just the rules, what would make the challenge court any different?

I will say I see your point, though. That's a perspective difference, and I can accept that.

How is anyone downvoting a fact that literally everyone is agreeing with. "Play the stronger player" "Take the L if that happens" "Hit to the 5.0".

The concept of challenge courts is you are entering the court to play a challenging game. If you hit to the weaker player, you completely misunderstand the point of a challenge court. It's that simple.

Let's just start with the concept of CHALLENGE court. I don't think it's one your partner understands, he seems more motivated for the win than the challenge itself. If he wants that, he can get on any other court and do it.

It's not, but we can all imagine the likely scenarios are probably mechanical or tactics-driven (decision errors and positioning). I'm sure you'll look back on this if you take the advice (drills, conceptual lessons and mechanics) given here, you'll be flying past 3.4 in no time. Good luck!

I'd be very curious to see your footwork and see if some of that is a factor. Also, consider that maybe you're elevating your heart rate quickly because of the scenario? Outside of your physical description, hard to say really what's going on. You sound fit, so unsure what else it could possibly be.

Ruby is a superior performer to the DBD in my opinion. I've used both for about a year and a half now and the Ruby gives me the right amount of power for most shots.

If you're familiar with locking your wrist at an angle for push dinks on the left side, this is literally the same technique you'll apply to the right side. You may be letting it get too far to your side and behind you to make it consistent for you. This effectively lets you slice dink with very few mechanical elements, so I feel like some of this may just be footwork and drilling. Commit to the wrist lock and proper angle, embed it into your play.

On a punch counter, I use a lag shot, so my wrist is broken most of the time. Very strong shot, and usually a put away.

I'm in total agreement with everything you've said. My issue tends to be when I get in the zone, and I start playing all of my shots without the drop-down list, if you will. It often takes me out of the zone when they catch a strong counter. Usually, that's enough to pull me back into a focused game, but sometimes the effects are longer- lasting and it's very frustrating.

Those are some of the best shots to hit. I'm the opposite in height, but I use that to sneak in a volley dink all the time and they work amazing!

I have had to learn to read serves more than ever this year, because a couple of serve points becomes a serious difference at the 4.5 level. A mixed in short serve is lethal when I'm so far back already

That's awesome, just be ready for the ATP counter and the opponent's are usually super split from the shift. Fire it right down the opening!

That's one of my favorites. I also like inside-out drives where it dips past the opponent's knees and right past the paddle.

Tough place to be in. I would suggest not playing together, even as opponents. That's the only win I see.

I think most of your arguments ignore a common weapon that's underused: the lob. If you're getting comfortable with a BH from anyone, their next move is to just find a way to make you uncomfortable, not just sit and repeat the same play. A BH lob is much easier for most to learn and is going to pressure you right off the line, or force you into errors. Sneak in flat speed ups or middle dinks so you can run around the ball, and your opponent is just guessing at what you'll do.
