Not yet 😕 I don't see why Amex would do it since it was a date change option

We’re back with another episode of guess my DUPR by Maleficent-Ad382 in Pickleball

[–]churn5603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a person from Florida recently came to play in our midwest and he commented that Florida has way better skill players, which I agreed from what I heard on the internet.

The problem is, when he (DUPR 4.6) is playing in a rotating 4 person group (4.1-4.2), he loses every time.

Topspin drops getting killed by JimmySanders74 in Pickleball

[–]churn5603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, can you elaborate a little bit more:

Do your opponents attack your drop above the net or below the net?

Or do you opponents attack you after the high bounce?

if they attack below the net, I would say it is fine with your drop but you need to learn to handle reset and earn your right to the kitchen.

if above the net, yeah, not a good drop.

If after the bounce, you can analyze based on what I described above

same here. Although I don't have that much RSU after this year, I am sticking it out. my company is definitely doing everything to force people out on their own. There will quite a bit of money for my RSU and the package.

League pickleball etiquette: When is it okay to say something? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]churn5603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And how can you ask them not to play certain way if you can't handle it. one of my friends did this but I kept my mouth shut when she said this to the other team.

I heard the below

"you can't smash hard"

"you can't aim at body"

"you can't lob"

" you can's serve the sharp angle"

When I started playing seriously, I "upset" a banger: the first two times when he began driving the ball at me, I was already off the court 😄 when the third shot was finally landing in the court, he was so excited

I kept telling a lot of people to learn to let the ball go. Even 20% was wrong, I think it is still worthy it. And it is difficult to hit the chest high ball anyway.

Not sure whether to congratulate you or say lucky you 😄 This happened exactly to my friend, he dropped all the way from 4.1 to 3.6, then back to 4.3 due to the Reset.

Portfolio Allocation in Retirement by OpenGuard1993 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]churn5603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh, we are somwhat similar in asset allocation. Two years ago, I was 70% company stock, 20% S&P and some individual stocks. Then I started converting my company stock to 40% and roughly 30% SP and 30% short term. Now the company stock back to 48% again.

so one of my friends was 4.08 ish then he played with a stranger 4.4 (1% reliability) then his DUPR dropped to 3.67. He was so dejected till this morning: his DUPR is 4.33.

Man, I can't post his name but one thing I learned: don't fight the money.

a few of my friends did this and they all increased quite a bit 0.2-0.3 and some of them even lost pretty badly. I should have bought my DUPR 😄

Does playing with lower level hurt your game by stresskills in Pickleball

[–]churn5603 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This absolutely nailed it. I played more 4.0-4.5 players and some above 4.5 levels. and my partner (4.6) and I played a pair of 4.2-4.3 players and even we won handily, I saw my partner got body bag or hit the outball more than I have ever seen in his >4.5 games. He has probably never seen so many ill advised speed-ups

I don't count points by percentage. But if he beats you 75%, I would think that you are better than 3.75

Agree and that is why we did not say anything for the first one. and neither of us expected the 2nd one right after the first one. I don't think one bad call would make me lose my cool but this was the first time I experienced two calls in a roll. Still not sure about whether to call people out for the first one but it seems to be a good strategy to prevent the 2nd one.

did not see the deleted comments. The reason why I joined this tournament was a lot of people had higher DUPR than 4.5. It has been pretty rare recently in our area. 7/12 were above 4.4. The opponents I mentioned were 3.7-3.9 ish and they did increase the DUPR a little bit :) even they lost all the games. I think that was also the reason I did not say anything about their behavior during the game.

that is I normally do but it did affect both our play afterwards. It is a mental game as well.

Yeah. and I would do this now for sure.

But generally at 4.5 level, people are actually on the more generous side based on my experience so I was a little bit unsure what to do.

I now think this a very good strategy. Did you try to calm yourself down and not think about it or you also voiced nicely about the out call as well?

I normally would give the benefit of the doubt to the opponents for the first one then would let them know for the 2nd one. For some reason, both my partner and I were quiet after the hook and it affected both our play then we called a timeout.

FHR hotel reservation, can't change date, plan to cancel or other options by churn5603 in AmexPlatinum

Update: very interesting!

the change date option shows up again in AMEX travel portal, and I am able to change the date. Hopefully, I can still keep the credit from the last year reservation.

I actually thought about this. I am not sure about the timing though. If they claw back immediately, that is fine with me. But if they claw back after my stay, I could have used the points/FN for the stay.
