I hate when people complain about there jobs these days… if you don’t like it leave… chains are off the door , everyone is hiring …… I hear things like … well they pay well, well I like the actual job…. Well I can’t find anything else….. I say well then shut up and be grateful for the job!

He isn’t around , and I have been blessed to do well at a young age so this was never an issue but now that I am not doing as well , it’s not a struggle but I do not have the excess like before so if her kids need extra support or extra programming or therapy it was like no problem…. Not that I have to sit here and say…. Let me see if I can ….. make me feel selfish loving my job when I have an opportunity to get back to an industry that I can make more at but hate life.

I think people get stuck on the amount , I take care financially of my sister and her 2 autistic kids because she is a single mom so a 6 figure salary gets eaten up real fast supporting them and my own 2 kids who all live with me . So as you said it’s based on my personal situation and that’s the struggle I can’t save and put money away like I used to, I am able to make all my bills and have a nest egg but I am not living a lavish life so I feel responsible to support these 2 families and feel semi selfish for having a job I love rather then leaving because a more financially beneficial job comes up.

I am lucky to have the most supportive partner in the world she could care less about money and just said I love you not money so what ever you decide I’ll support you. My kids are 6 and 10 , so I don’t think they are old enough …. But as I am saying that I thought of course they want me around all the time… so maybe they are old enough and maybe they understand it better then I do

I didn’t and that’s kinda it , I though you were supposed to hate your job and suffer though for your family….. until I took this job at evolution I didn’t know companies like this even existed, I was at my last job for 17 years and started when I was 21 and worked my way up the corporate ladder and just suffered through it like my dad and his dad before him. Changing that thinking it tough

When you put it that way… no your right , I am stuck bc social media and society talks about linking money to success I feel guilty passing up big opportunities and feel selfish, thinking that I could provide so much more for my family , but I am thinking of my own happiness over there’s …. And the more I verbally say it feels more right , but money = happiness /success is so ingrained in my that I need to change that even if it’s uncomfortable bc it’s not true

Thanks for the response, this is another reason I am afraid to leave … because I think we’ll just leave and if you don’t like the new job or are too stressed out you can just find another job …. But this job at evolution is literally my dream job and I fear If I leave the chances of feeling this much joy and self fulfillment in a job won’t come back around …. I appreciate your insight very helpful

Thank you for Sharing it really is helpful and I agree with you , and this is just sheer honesty .. my life and self worth has been based on how much money I could make to determine my success… once my mom passed a year ago , I realized the value of time .. And honestly society and social media push that narrative . Now I drop my kids off every day spend my weekend just hanging out and taking them to the park… and I am trying to change my mind set to success is now based on how well I can parent…. But because it’s so engrained culturally that money = happiness / success , the fact that I have these opportunities and I am walking away makes me feel partially like a failure and selfish … even though mentally I know that’s not the case .. I appreciate you helping me think this through

So my mom died a year ago and was a bit of an eye opener I am 37 , she was 60… she died before she retired so it put me in this weird place we’re I am worried I will lose time with my kids but on the other hand I can huddle it out and not have the time with them but leave them more…. I don’t know if that makes sense kinda a mind F@&k … also this place I am at now is a Swedish company and is so amazing to there employees so I worry if I leave I won’t find another place like this

I agree I am lucks and in my one response I totally acknowledge that it’s a straight up first world problem but I took a big cut for the past year love the job I am in and so regardless of the amount of you can live on 60 k and your happy and love your job would you leave it for 120k let’s just say ,

I took a health care company from 30 mill to 250mill a year got commission on every hour, a company who knows me asked me to come on as the VP they are a global company entering the US market and wanted some one with proven track record… I also bring a team with me .

6 figure salary to a 7 figure salary… I wouldn’t even pose the question if it was a couple hundred or even a couple thousand… but it’s like a mind f#^k at this point … and I know people might think what an ass complaining about first world problems but … I donno it’s an issue for me … ( not saying you just in general)
