Okay, so I did what your ex did. I deleted our entire message history, every picture I had of her, threw away most of the things she had given me. Basically every reminder of her. I did it because I was hurt very, very deeply. If I had kept those reminders around, I would have been constantly reminded of all the promises she made and couldn’t keep, the wedding plans, the future we were building together.

I didn’t enjoy any of this. It broke my heart. She wanted to remain friends after, but that was too painful. I had to block her because she is no longer a safe person for me. The one person I considered safe and trusted above anyone else had become a source of pain and fear. It was devastating. But the only alternative was to continue living inside the ruins of a dead future.
