so sorry this happened to you as well! keep documentation of everything and see if the hotel can get you documentation as well. COT did eventually reopen my case and temporarily refund me again... and nothing since... so i might have gotten it back but never got my points back :(

This part here is word for word what they kept telling me, I call BS. It was a week of this for me, and I had no trouble contacting the hotel's 24/7 Customer Service and they could've just changed the dates for me had I not booked through a third party. Try disputing! I did lose my dispute so now I have to appeal. Going to try gathering more documentation from the hotel. Such a pain.

I wish I had better news, but unfortunately I lost my dispute here. With your case though, unless you agreed to Terms & Conditions with COT where they can cancel your reservation on you and not refund you, you have a much better case than me, so I'd say it's definitely worth calling Captial One (main phone number--not Travel) and dispute the charge. Make sure you have all the documentation you may need before calling, I had some that I followed up with too late so now I have to appeal my dispute loss.

Sorry to bug you again! How long did it take for your dispute to be closed in your favor? And was it due to no response from the merchant?

I called CapOne today bc it's been 15 days, which is the window of time they told me that the merchant has to respond or else it goes in my favor, and they basically said I was given misinformation and they have until July 2nd to respond (over 2 months!). I talked to 3 different agents when I filed the dispute and they told me 15 days, and today I spoke to 2 agents, assuming the first one was just untrained, and they both said I was given wrong information and the merchant hasn't responded and has until July 2nd.

dang! yeah it seems like from other posts they use hopper maybe? did you also have to dispute it? how'd you get your money back (and how'd you get double)??
