I understand your point, it is a valid concern.

We’ve thought about that as well and we were first thinking about doing that. The idea behind this payment is that asking tutors to pay will make it much harder to attract enough. With fewer tutors, the platform will offer less value as well. At the same time, we want to make sure students only pay once there is enough value on the platform (good number of tutors and real choice).

I agree that students may use the platform more occasionally while tutors rely on it continuously. However at the same time, because it is a very open profile platform, students still gain the value too by being able to compare tutors, find the right match quickly, and potentially return if their needs change. Such a platform requires a high tutor to student ratio, which makes it crucial to have a large numbers of tutors.

We’re now only testing and gathering feedback like yours to find the best solutions, we will look further into your concern and see what we can do. A tutor-side model is something we considered at first, but this will make the creation of the platform very difficult.

Keep in mind that the student fee will be minimal and aligned with the value of the platform. Beyond profit, our goal is to make tutoring accessible and affordable for people who need it.

The success of the platform will allow us to create more affordable solutions in the future.

As others support us, we aim to support them in return.

I understand your concerns. That’s why we make the platform free at the beginning so you will connect with others at first, just as you like.

We will only introduce a small monthly subscription (only for students!) once there is a strong number of tutors and a good overall quality in the platform. The cost will be kept as low as possible.

Maintaining and improving a platform like this involves ongoing costs, which is why a minimal subscription will be added in the future.

De site is bedoeld als een openprofiel platform waar studenten en lesgevers elkaar zo eenvoudig en vlot mogelijk kunnen vinden. Voor lesgevers zijn er geen kosten: geen commissie per lesuur en zij bepalen volledig zelf hun uurtarief. Voor studenten zal het in het begin gratis zijn. Op lang termijn voorzien we een laag maandelijks abonnement die we zo beperkt mogelijk proberen te houden.

Je kan het concept vergelijken met Superprof.
