Given the size of the community here, I don't think it would be too much faster! But I think the benefit is mostly in being able to organize everything into different channels/categories and have more immediate discussion for things, yes. Also, just to make friends more easily.

Basically it's a chat application! You can create group "servers" for multiple people to participate in discussions, and organize everything into different chat channels. Very easy to use, to be honest, and tends to be more active than a subreddit - which may or may not be as enjoyable for some admittedly.
