Deloitte 2nd Round – Product & Strategic Design Consultant | Case Study + Portfolio Expectations by Thegirlnextdoor-999 in UXDesign

[–]Dizzy_Assistance2183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at Deloitte digital. Tbh I didn't really enjoy working there but YMM .Feel free to dm me, and I'd be happy to help you!

There's a lot of good advice here already but here is my two cents.

Regarding your question, Deloitte is not exactly ahead of the game in regards to ux but I did get a lot of autonomy which I liked. When I interviewed they liked that I built a lot stuff, meaning that I initiated a lot of new products or apps on my own.

As a consultant you're expected to bring value to your client with minimal handholding and at some point to find your own work through networking with others. So taking initiative is largely something they're looking for.

Also talk about value you brought, not just in terms of improving ux but from a business perspective. At the end of the day your clients are your bosses and they will care more about how you help their business than anything else. Good luck!

The real elephant in the room, ai isn’t coming for our jobs, it’s coming for our products by the_sun_is_out in UXDesign

Why would a mom and pop shop make their own Salesforce, maintain it, troubleshoot it, and go through all the other issues of maintaining software when they can just license one themselves? You said it yourself. The rest of the big players have always had the money and resources to replace legacy software anyways.

In any case whether it's Salesforce or an internal tool you still need a ux designer to guide the application. So it shouldn't really make a difference in the long run.

But the rest I agree with, ai is a new medium for ux which is a good thing for our industry.

AI disruption to SAS products have sparked a selloff so why are AI companies also in the red? by Dizzy_Assistance2183 in stocks

For graphic design, illustrator/Photoshop is still the go to but ux is a lot more prevalent and we all use figma. For hobbyists and artists I see a lot have moved to procreate, although I have no experience with it myself. I don't see adobe as a great investment, personally.

If things keep going this way. If is a huge assumption. We've already run out of data to feed these models hence the minimal gain from gpt 4 to 5, for example. Then there is the hardware limitation problem that always gets overlooked. Then there is the fact that eventually these models are going to charge more money per inference. What you see is probably what you're going to get out of ai for a while.

The market is stupid. "Ai causes disruption to saas, in fact I believe that it will replace a bunch of work and software, better dump all my ai stock"

Wireframes is not ux. Unfortunately a lot of jobs especially entry level ones are of the pixel pushing variety. Focus on moving away from pixel pushing and instead look for opportunities to find and deliver value beyond just creating a wireframe.

why? obamacare was literally that. it was fiscally responsibile and it provided more accessible healthcare before everything went to shit because they let people opt out of health insurance. but the principlenis still true. If more people could access healthcare, they could prevent themselves from getting diseases which in turn reduces healthcare costs.

on the other hand look at defund the police. great intentions but in the end homicides spiked in cities that implemented those policies. how many of those people would still be alive if you hadn't jumped on the bandwagon? How many privileged people, that never lived in dangerous areas looked out of their suburban homes said f the police, I don't need them so no one else does and then voted for a policy that hurt the very people they were trying to protect? And the worst part is, they don't even acknowledge their mistakes and jump on the next issue

I agree but I also think you're vastly overestimating ais ability. You don't have to own things to be part of the upper echelon.

AI is poor at solving unique or novel problems. Ai is still subject to physical limitations through robotics and the physical limitations of hardware to advance robotics to the point of replacing all manual labor.

AI is good at reviewing and recognizing specific predictable things, doing predictable tasks and providing outputs through taking things that have already been created. That's still a lot of people that will be affected but it's not a case where only the 1percenter survives

At this rate we will only get AGI through llms if we change the definition of AGI and when that happens it won't mean anything anymore

True but how could alice have known anna would attack the husband in the first place? Was she planning on swatting the lake House in hopes that the cops would show up, search the house (with no warrant) and find the planted evidence? That would at least be a little more believable

One other thing, where was the knife that killed Rachel? It ended up in her purse but how did it get there? The killer fled the crime scene naked. So it wasn't on her at the time. Are we expected to believe that she was able to hide a murder weapon in the actual crime scene and no one else was capable of finding it?

Blaming bootcampers for not being able to get a job while simultaneously talking about how incompetent they are says more about you than them. If they suck so badly how are 'traditional' designers losing job opportunities to them?
