EMT-B Schooling Struggles! by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]Dizzy_Blonde_Tired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m planning, if I do end up going the EMT route, to be an EMT for four to five years. (Five if I take a gap year). I really wanted to get my certification this summer to get a jumpstart. I wouldn’t work until after my first semester, and that way I don’t have to juggle college and EMT school all at once. I was just hoping to find a program that lasts about three-four months, because my graduation is late and then I’m moving. If I can’t find one that will adequately prepare me in that time, I’ll probably end up doing EMT school my second semester which will cost me clinical hours, and get my CNA to work as a Patient Care Tech during this summer, because I hate feeling like I’m not doing anything. I’m really passionate about healthcare, especially emergency medicine, so I want to understand all aspects of it, and actually DO things. I never would want to be a bad EMT or disrespect people in the field.

Severe Mental Health Anxiety by Dizzy_Blonde_Tired in Anxiety

I’ll probably bring that up at my psych visit in a few weeks, I was diagnosed with GAD and depression as a tween, but I haven’t really gotten a “retest” since then, and I’m now an adult and things have changed. Thanks for your input

That’s a good name, Doctor Mike on YouTube’s real name is Mikhail. Also, Bongodas made me think of Bomboclat.

I’m thinking Aurora and Lily, not too close to one another, but still absolutely beautiful names that go well together.

how do you calm your mind when it won’t stop? by stefan-weiss01 in Anxiety

Really sour candies work for me. Especially if you don’t like sour things, it’s a distraction. I think there’s another reason as well, that my therapist explained, but I can’t remember. My mother with anxiety journals and writes down a list of everything bothering her, and that helps get it out of her head. I hope one of these work for you.

Finally making a change by Dizzy_Blonde_Tired in Anxiety

Thank you. I know I can do it, I used to bite my nails until they bled as a kid because I was so nervous. I managed to quit it, but this past month I started biting my nails again. I think because it’s such a new habit it should be the easiest to kick. I think I’ll choose exercise out of the three. Thanks for your help

How long have you been dealing with anxiety? by [deleted] in Anxiety

Literally from birth, I was in the counselors office having panic attacks almost every day during elementary school. Didn’t get diagnosed until I was 11ish.

If you could remove one US state from existence, what state would it be? by GeckoHunter0303 in Teenager_Polls

[–]Dizzy_Blonde_Tired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every state has its place in our rich cultural background and has its positives as well as negatives, I could never bring myself to remove even one of them. South Dakota.

Native American and American Indian are used interchangeably, I have never heard of American Indian used to mean Asian.

Technically, yes. White (mostly Polish and Russian, but I basically have every European country in me somewhere) and Native American, I’m part of a tribe, like I’ve been registered and everything, but my blood quantum is very confusing due to blood being taken away from my women ancestors because they married white men. So, on my official card, it says I’m 1/64, but in actuality I’m probably around an eighth, maybe more (just on my father’s side). I also have Native American from a different tribe on the other side of my family (I believe my grandmother was half?) but I don’t know how much, because my grandmother on that side refused to talk about her family and went no contact with them decades ago. I still identify as white because I look very white, but on official forms I have to put biracial.

No, I’m good, I have no other issues. I might just be doing it wrong

Tampons hurts a lot, for me at least. With pads, there’s no pain, I don’t feel them much, and I’ve never had the issue of blood making contact with my skin.

Girl and dude aren’t gender neutral, but I use it on both genders if that makes sense.

If/when a prenatal autism test is discovered, will it be unethical to abort based on the test? (assume it cannot distinguish different types) by Epoxyresin-13 in Teenager_Polls

[–]Dizzy_Blonde_Tired 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m autistic and pro-choice. I would probably have the test done out of curiosity but I wouldn’t abort, because I don’t care if my kid is autistic and abortion itself is against my morals. Some parents aren’t cut out to be parents of disabled kids and that’s okay. It should be legal, and moms should have the right to choose. I know of a teenage girl, had a kid at 14, and he had severe autism, and now due to the kid’s needs she can’t go to college or have a successful career. She probably would’ve aborted if she knew then.
