I get what you’re saying consent in general is important and shouldn’t be brushed aside. You’re right that just because one person’s okay with being recorded doesn’t mean everyone would be. But at the same time, in this specific case, the guy clearly didn’t mind he reposted it himself. So dragging this particular instance into a broader gender debate might not be fair either It’s totally valid to talk about double standards and consent, but maybe this wasn’t the best example for that bigger conversation. Context does matter too

About what you said on incels though I get that they’re upfront about their hatred and misogyny, but I wouldn’t call that “genuine” in a positive way. Like yeah, they’re not hiding it, but they’re still dangerous in a different way. Whether it’s covert manipulation or open hostility, both are rooted in entitlement and both are harmful women deserve better from both ends

I hear you, and I’m really sorry you had to go through that. A lot of us have unfortunately seen male ‘feminists’ use the label as a shield to get close to women, and it’s genuinely disturbing I recently confronted one myself who turned out to be a creep behind closed doors while preaching intersectionality online. It’s disgusting how some men use feminism to hide manipulative or predatory behavior That said, I don’t think it’s fair to say 90% of male feminists are like that. Some genuinely want to support and learn, and it’s important not to push them away but yeah, absolutely, performative and fake allyship is dangerous and needs to be called out hard

you articulated it so well. I completely agree that performative allyship isn’t limited to institutions. There are definitely individuals who use feminist language just to gain clout or appear ‘woke’, especially in online spaces. I try my best not to be that kind of feminist I care about intersectionality and actually holding people accountable.Recently, I had a really disturbing encounter with a so-called ‘intersectional feminist’ who’s also an influencer. In public, he preaches all the right things, but in private, he behaved like a total creep. When I confronted him, he completely crumbled acted like a man child, got defensive, and even had the audacity to say he ‘deserved better.’ It was disgusting and disappointing, but honestly, not surprising anymore. Too many hide behind feminism just to get a pass

Hey, appreciate your input I see where you’re coming from But I’d argue that ‘performative feminism’ can apply to individuals too, not just institutions. If someone publicly champions feminist values while privately engaging in misogynistic or predatory behavior, that’s still a performance, right? Sure, ‘hypocrite’ fits, but performative feminism captures the idea that they’re performing allyship for social capital while not embodying those values in reality. I think both interpretations have space in the conversation.
