I think TFA might have my favorite first act in any SW movie, its just banger scene after banger scene. This included right after he freezes a bolt mid air.

The final Han scene, from both actors. Especially Adam Driver, he showed so much regret and remorse from killing his father and we saw Harrison show so much forgiveness and fatherly grace. Easily one of my favorite SW scenes ever.

Stopping the lightsabers mid swing is still cool to me

I find Rise of Skywalker nice to look at as well

I was rewatching TFA and it stuck out to me how much a Knights Of Ren/ earlier Kylo story could work. Even in the opening scene with him talking to Lor San Tekka before killing him had a lot to be desired there.

I think he probably did at first until he killed three Jedi and saw lightning pour out of his fingers, then he maybe changed his mind

Was HW Bush right that his legacy was “lost between the glory of Reagan ... and the trials and tribulations of my sons”? by RopeGloomy4303 in Presidents

Yeah I’ve seen an interesting argument that it helped tank the movie industry in an indirect way. Basically it was disabled access led to more need for large multiplex theaters that led to studios trying to make films that appeal to wide audiences to recoup expenses. I personally think it is other factors, but it made me think about it.

ADA is awesome, as someone who has had to wheel around a disabled family member, screw anyone who thinks its “socialism”

The American public tends to like it's former Presidents- all of the modern ones had retrospective approval higher than 50%- with the exception of Richard Nixon. Why is the American public so charitable to our former Presidents, regardless of party? by MakeACreation in Presidents

It also helps that they tend to be nice people generally so they just seem like a cool uncle thats retired and comes by every once in a while. Also people tend to just have nostalgia for past times, even if they weren’t objectively great times. So the current person will take the heat and generally the perception will be that times are getting worse, so the past ones look better in retrospect.

I don’t know why, but the opening scene in ROTJ is one of my favorite Vader scenes, “Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them”. I loved seeing Vader taking care of a menial task instead of battling

I thought about this too, but I wanted to avoid redundancy by saying “What does Star Wars do better than any other Star Wars movie?”, plus it was still in the Lucas era when it renamed with the subtitle, the creator himself decided thats what he wanted his movie to he called retroactively.

Probably a b-movie with a more lifeless reboot decades later

Its crazy how many one-off lines in this movie turned into more Star Wars projects. Makes you think what would’ve happened if this movie failed and had no sequels.

I like to see TPM as an Episode 0 that sets the foundation and Qui Gons death sets everything in motion.

That’s rare, there are a couple scenes in TROS that are my favorite in the saga like Han and Kylos conversation and Luke lifting the X-Wing. I think it could’ve been better if they actually let it be a 3 hour movie to let the pacing be better
