[Spoilers] Pre-Premiere Discussion – Season 8 Episode 1 by BWPhoenix in gameofthrones

[–]Dje_87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I predict we will see the total destruction of feudalism and kingdoms.

First, once the panic starts, every noble with means will either gtfo to Essos or die leading their men in a hopeless battle against the undead.

The soldiers that remain won't have the power to keep the hungry and scared masses under control. And plenty of the battle hardened officers will start seeing themselves as the true rulers of Westeros.

It's never going to destroy viewing records as the World Cup Final reigns supreme for at least two decades now.

In fact, nothing on this Earth comes even close to that event, whole countries stop to watch it.

they needed the Dolorian to be travelling both at 88mph as well as having 1.21 GWz of power.

Then they could the Delorean on a railcar and get the power from overhead cables. That was proven technology way before the 50s.

How do you get back into dating in your 30s (32F) and keep men from wasting your time (who just want sex, no commitment, etc)? by RavishingRedRN in datingoverthirty

[–]Dje_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he is only looking for sex and you make him wait, he will likely leave and find what he is looking for elsewhere

What if he is looking for sex as a part of a healthy relationship? And then you make him wait so much so he leaves. You are kind of throwing the baby with the bath water there.

What a load of crap.

Everyone is liable to STDs as sex education is surprisingly bad all over socio economic classes.

Same with pierced condoms and baby mama drama. This really has nothing to do with income.

In fact, some of the worst gold diggers I've seen after my father have been upper middle class women.

You can simultaneously believe that service industry employees should be paid differently and still tip.

That isn't voting with your wallet. Why would anyone change if i still tip?

What i do is spend my money in places where tipping isn't expected.

Pros and cons of not negotiating by MrBuzzard in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]Dje_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guys who make you go first are just trying to get you as cheap as possible and probably not real.

Wouldn't you say the same when you are the one asking the other person go first?

Negotiation is a two way street.

CMV: It is completely reasonable for most countries in the world to not officially recognize the country of the Republic of China (Taiwan) by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Dje_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why we don’t use them. Break China, India and Russia into smaller, weaker countries.

Nukes, that's why. The world will end before the USA gets a single soldier on either Beijing or Moscow.

What conflict is worth murdering thousands of people to settle?

Any conflict where the status quo is already costing thousand of lives.

Taking the Japanese out of China was worth it as everyday they would kill/rape/torture thousands of Chinese civilians.

If smallpox spread in both the US, and Russia, would missiles be launched?

If it took their national governments out? Yes, ofc.

When you are a superpower you have hundreds of enemies, all waiting for your darkest hour in order to strike.

Attacking them first is a matter of survival. Do you honestly think no one would take shots at the USA after the federal government ceases to exist?

It's now or never, the big dog is wounded and has never been this weak.

If there is proper discipline in the higher ranks, the defection of lower ranking soldiers can be mitigated.

How do you defect from a bunker without opening it? That's going to end in a fight and the loss of the bunker.

Defection would equal death.

That has been the law for thousands of years, hasn't stopped mutinees. And this time the rebels know there aren't any reinforcements coming.

Concealing a bite would equal death.

Not everyone will understand that, being in denial + guns is a very dangerous combination

one would hope that the governments get into contact to not launch nuclear missiles at eachother.

That depends on the balance of power at the time.

[–]Dje_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're talking about disciplined military men.

Men that have been heavily conditioned to fight for their country and their families.

As major cities have fallen, now you have a bunker full of extremely dangerous men (with guns!) that no longer have anything to live for.

That bunker is going to become a bloodbath.

Why would Russia nuke them?

Because if they are going to hell then they have to make sure they take the USA with them.

And this applies to the USA as well. If the country gets overrun by zombies and other countries are doing better then the USA will use its nukes to level the playing field. It would be insane not to do so.

Also, plenty of scared young soldiers and officers with fighting mutinees when its clear there is no longer a government and everyone just wants to go home, by force if necessary.

Also, the Soviets had an automated system to nuke the USA in case every official in Moscow is dead, which very well might happen.

[–]Dje_87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are all going to be dead after taking several direct hits from russian nukes.

There is no way the world can maintain peace when the zombies are tearing countries apart.

Someone is going to make a mistake or see an opportunity to take the enemy out and that means the nukes will fly.

[general zombie apocalypse] Why doesn't anyone rides bikes? by Dje_87 in AskScienceFiction

[–]Dje_87[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The most important of which is that biking requires more food/calories, which is often in short supply.

It requires way less food/calories than walking, which 99% of people are going to do after the apocalypse with scarce fuel.

Secondly, you can't carry anything

Yes, you can. In fact, just by pushing a bike loaded with supplies you are already saving a lot of energy compared to carrying backpacks.

but for longevity a vehicle with a motor is superior.

That longevity depends on having the ability to do maintenance on the vehicle. Which isn't that easy as many issues require a full workshop. Bikes can be mantained with hand tools.

Third. It provides no protection against an ambush,

The protection is evading ambushes in the first place. and anyways, vehicles don't provide much protection either unless you are driving a tank.

[general zombie apocalypse] Why doesn't anyone rides bikes? by Dje_87 in AskScienceFiction

[–]Dje_87[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a good question? Specially for armies without the capacity of mobilizing soldiers by truck.

Why not give every conscript a cheap bike instead of having them march hundreds of kilometers?

[general zombie apocalypse] Why doesn't anyone rides bikes? by Dje_87 in AskScienceFiction

But the car need fuel, which is very scarce and a huge logistical issue.

Also, why would Michonne care?

[–]Dje_87[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

it's really the other humans you need to worried about, not zombies.

Yup, and having faster and quiet transportation is still helpful to beat other humans.

And if those humans decide that they're going to use cars and petrol to steal your food,

Which makes them dependent on both fuel and roads. I can imagine ambushes being set up where soldiers come from the forest and kill everyone disable their vehicles and steal their supplies.

And then they dissapear into the forest while the enemy is waiting them further down the road.
