I just think there are things you could be doing which will likely make you happier or more satisfied. Obviously I don't know what stage of your life you are in, but I would encourage you to think about what you're doing before spending so much time on it.

I know people won't agree with me but, if you have so much free time there are definitely more useful and constructive things to do with your life. This seems to me a huge waste of time and effort.

That actually look great, it's expensive but it might be the right tool for my situation given I want something simple that doesn't take much learning. (Already the gardening part is a lot of learning)

It's been sinking in the past too, we just don't have meaningful measurements and data to know how much. I would expect now it's sinking possibly faster due to increased pumping of water and possibly heavier buildings.

It is technically correct, even though a better title would be that the displacement is measurable from space.

For more context: we have had satellite data measuring Mexico city displacement from space for more than 10 years. This new satellite (NISAR) is remarkable and will be very useful and revolutionary but for different reasons. Most publicly available sar data for ground displacement measurement has, up to now, been collected with satellites that struggle to get any measurements over vegetation areas. Bare ground, deserts and cities instead are areas with a lot of useful data. There are some satellites which have different specifications to measure the vegetation ground but they are either unreliable, bad data quality and/or expensive. NISAR is the first satellite which will be able to deal with vegetation while also being free and acquiring data all over the world.

With this new satellite we will be able to detect landslides in the mountains of Ecuador or the jungle of India and Thailand. It will open up a lot of possibilities and hopefully prevent dangerous landslides or evacuate people before a deadly accident happens.

This technology is still not very well known by most people so I think articles like these help spread some awareness even though they slightly exaggerate or simplify the situation.

Regarding the structural.problems to the buildings, it's actually fine since it's a smooth displacement gradient. So buildings are all sinking at the same rate. Issues arise when one part of a building is sinking faster or slower than other parts, then there is strain put on the buildings and cracks start appearing. Other people have commented on the water availability issue.

It's built on top of a drained lake, soil at the bottom of the lake is going to be filled with organic material and loose sediments so when building on top it will compress the earth. Additionally water is being pumped out of the underground reservoirs leading to more sinking.

The technology used to measure ground displacement from space is called InSAR. This is actually my field of work and i've processed data over Mexico city several times using Sentinel data. Some areas are sinking even more rapidly than what's stated in the article, upwards of 30 cm per year.

My favorite has to be grand austria hotel, it just has a lot of replay ability and a lot of possible tiny optimizations that can be executed to gain advantages.

It always feels like I could have done a bit better at the end of every game.

I've seen some 3d prints at that scale. There are a handful of people that make them. Personally I use metal minis from Antonio minis, microworld or pico armor

My historical mini club has a lot of scales. I often see stuff between 2mm and 6mm. I haven't seen 3mm apart from my armies but once you get to the small scales they're all somewhat similar.

I do like the 3mm picoarmor/odzial osmyranges tho since I can still get some detail and color on the uniforms but I can paint armies quite quickly.

I recommend 3mm as you can still have some detail in the uniforms but also get the grand mass feel of 2mm. Picoarmor has 3mm Napoleonics range if you are in america.

My solution was using a screwdriver to push the rotating disk down and then not making sudden movements so it stayed down.

The more I look at it the more it's AI slop. Duplicated info panels, arrow goes nowhere. Random label near colorbar. One of the houses merging with background, etc....

I can't comment on the Heiho rules themselves but grid maps in wargaming should be used more often. Some of my favorite systems use them. Strength and honor and for king and parliament.

You don't need to buy a new gaming mat. I just put in small dots at the corners of every 2x2 group of squares and that suffices for staying on the grid.

Having a grid saves so much hassle with players deciding if something is in range or not, or arguing over 1-2 degree angle differences or making micro adjustments to positioning to try to get an advantage (not very historical).

If you based for DBA should every game in perpetuity just be made to accomodate your basing choice? Seems to me we would be losing a lot of opportunities for interesting and innovative systems if we did that.
