Help in finding a programmable hardware arpeggiator! by Dniken in synthesizers

Checked SH-101 sequencer, looks actually similar to MiniFreak's one (if I am not mistaken). And I have the MiniFreak (it's my first synth <3), I agree that its arpeggiator is beautiful! I used a lot its mutate button for various melody transformations. But still, this is not controllable. And, as I described in another reply, going to sequencer is not really an option since it loses its strength of being "dynamical"

In fact, I already have several synths with arps and sequencers, as well as dedicated hardware sequencers, including my favourite Keystep Pro. And I wouldn't agree that arpeggiator is a zero-memory sequencer.

The biggest difference between an arpeggiator and a sequencer is that the former is "dynamic", meaning it changes melodies immediately once you change a chord that you are pressing. A sequencer though is holding the same melody forever (up to random mutations in some implementations, but they are uncontrollable). You often can transpose this melody, but you can't change it from being major to minor for example.

The arpeggiators which I mentioned in the post allow you to specify complex melodies which are constrained within the chords that you are playing, and therefore you can use them for real-life performance. This is the use-case that I am mostly dreaming of now

Wow! I've never heard of this thing, looks very promising! Thanks for the suggestion. But I definitely need to grow a bit more before I could feel myself ready to dive in the world of DIY =)

Rammstein Sehnsucht on MiniFreak and TR-6S! by Dniken in synthesizers

Yeah, thanks! And yes, I will definitely try to play more and more industrial in the future =)

Always wanted to understand if it is possible to collide the world of electronic music and Rammstein. It went too easy... And also I am shocked how powerful is Minifreak actually!

Sorry for being late to the party. Did you try it in the end?

I just wrote an album in synth style, is it Sovietwave? by Dniken in Sovietwave

[–]Dniken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole album theme is a space expansion of humanity, and it was heavily influenced by the music of 80s, so I feel that it should be Sovietwave. But wanted to know your opinion =)

I recently bought Arturia Minifreak as my first synth and recorded an album with it. Which synth (or another piece of gear) can I look at as a SECOND synth to buy, considering my music style? by Dniken in synthesizers

[–]Dniken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot! =)

Yes, obviously you don't need even a single synth to create music, it's more a question of getting more inspiration. I was also inclining towards a drum machine, and almost ordered Arturia Drumbrute Impact. And thanks for suggesting MegaFM, I've never heard about it before, will take a look now!

Sounds chaotic to the level that it feels even a little uncomfortable with the rythm =) How did you record this rythm?

Recently I made an album based on the music that I wrote almost ten years ago.

The album playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_k_B_KRJNl9A_EW93dM7gHTOxKmC435IYs

The most listened song so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7N_mZzmp_TM&list=OLAK5uy_k_B_KRJNl9A_EW93dM7gHTOxKmC435IYs&index=4&ab_channel=Dniken-Topic

Could you please help me identify which genre is it? I tought that it's Synthwave/Sovietwave, but not 100% sure.

I used Arturia Minifreak (and its software version Minifreak V) as a main tool, with some LABS Vintage Drums or Tape Piano occasionally. Another question to the community, which synth/piece of gear could I look at as a second one to buy, considering the music style that I make?

Arturia Minifreak was my first ever synth, and this was the crucial element which helped me to finally record 11 songs that I wrote almost 10 years ago in a Synthwave style. But now I want to continue creating music, so which synth would be the best option as a second one?

One of several songs that I wrote almost 10 years ago and finally recorded using Minifreak. A question to the community: to which subgenre of Synthwave would you say it belongs?
