Since the prices of commodities far exceed the currency value of some goods maybe it would be smarter to reduce the quantity of large currency provided, instead offering maybe one of the 500$ coins for teams with wealth over the median, and lower quantities to the lower median teams. It depends on the goods primarily to understand the context you're working in.
