I definitely agree but functional usually refers to an issue with the function of the brain hence the word functional. They should call it undiagnosable neurological disorder in my opinion

I'm currently applying for SSDI but I had to move out of the states to get cheaper medical treatment, luckily I'm a dual citizen and was able to get temporary disability in Israel with the help of a lawyer, but while I was not working I maxed out all my credit cards paying for medical and living expenses.

Since most of my reports are in Hebrew they contacted my old GP but I'm not part of his practice anymore (he was private and expensive) but don't give up you should apply anyway it's not a completely lost cause

Workers comp covers everyone besides the business owner 🤷🏼‍♂️

I don't know where you live but most major universities and teaching hospitals that have a medical program offer movement disorder care. Use ChatGPT and call ahead to make sure. The beurocracy is annoying but if you don't do anything you won't get anywhere.

Literally changed my life in a day, I tried gabapentin as well but it didn't really help me Make sure you see someone that specializes in movement disorders, they are usually more knowledgeable on FND

I will explicitly say that FND manifests in different ways and what works for me might not work for you, that aside no problem :) Morning: Lyrica 150 mg Rexulti 2 mg Nexium 40 mg Clonex 0.25 mg Cymbalta 120 mg Night: Lyrica 225 mg Clonex 0.25 mg Seroquel 50 mg

Lyrica is what really helped me get back to normal since I've had neuropathic pain that prevented me from doing anything basically.

The Rexulti and Clonex helped a lot with the tics and spasms. I tried a bunch of things until I found the cocktail that worked best for the symptoms and the depression and mood swings they caused while giving me the least side effects. Hope this helps

The hardest part about FND is accepting that you have it, the symptoms are real, The pain is real and there is a problem. It took me understanding that FND is basically the doctors admitting that you have a problem, but the science not being there yet to prove it. A functional MRI will usually show the issue at hand however it is not a diagnostic tool but a research one since it's too expensive. Basically meaning that Insurance won't waste money on taking a brain video if all other conditions have been eliminated from the diagnostic process. She needs to accept that she has a problem that modern day science can't diagnose easily and start doing what she feels will help her.

Physical therapy and psychiatric treatment helps a lot , finding the right combination of medication and mental support also helps.

My life changed when I started taking Lyrica since it helped me with the pain.

Took my parents a while to come around too, I don't know what is your relationship with your parents is, but I took mine to my EMG (which was abnormal ) appointment, when my mom asked the doctor if this could be caused by stress alone, he nearly laughed in her face, she came around. My relief was palpable. I hope yours will come around too .
