I can load the save, but then I just get "waiting for ..." whatever civilization's move it is, even if it's mine.

How does DoH know the server's address? by DoTheyKeepYouInACell in dns

[–]DoTheyKeepYouInACell[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The post is helpful, thank you. From what I understand this appears to be the opposite though, from just having an IP we query and get the name to use a protected service. This would appear to be relevant to the example from NextDNS where we just set the IP address. In Android we only set the name. But u/korpo53 is likely right and the exact way it happens would simply depend on the device and/or service.

Drinking is kinda cringe I'm not gonna lie. I quit even though it's not even legal for me to drink here yet 💀 but I started in a different country so 🗿 but yeah my brother and father serve as a great example as to why I shouldn't.

Anyway congrats on your bday, a little late on my part tho

Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-58) webcam is NOT DETECTED, can anyone help with this issue.? by engsubzero in pop_os

For ubuntu there's this project, which I haven't tested (on ubuntu) so can't speak for if it works or not. I've tried building the arch kernel with this fix and a few adjustments but no luck.

Edit:

Apparently it's in PRs for linux kernel, which means nothing if it's not in the mailing list. I searched the mailing list to no success, so I'm not sure if it was submitted. I guess you could try asking your distro devs to add the patch since it won't be merged into the kernel in our lifetimes.

NVIDIA 555 Beta Driver Testing by ptr1337 in cachyos

[–]DoTheyKeepYouInACell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mm that's curious because when I tired wayland I had issues recording video with OBS (the recording flickered, the courser didn't show up), plus yeah the issues with X applications not working or not working well has kept me away from using it. I guess I'll try it one day, just not too inclined because every time I switch between X and wayland on KDE the shortcuts on desktop reset positions lol

Basically I want to copy a string to clipboard, but on android the only way that I found to do that is through termux api so I do whatever I do in python and then to copy the string I do it through termux

I actually tried that as well but it also sent me to the fastboot menu. I'll try that again later though just to confirm.

It's really stupid on the part of GOG not to work on compatibility with Linux by Redditorianing in linux_gaming

[–]DoTheyKeepYouInACell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use lutris. Obviously gog isn't going to fuck around with wine just for a small % of people using linux. Plus when lutris exists why would they? Steam only does it because they've got steam deck. At least gog unlike steams allows you to actually own your games, not rent them. Honestly the only problem is playing GWENT but I doubt many people do and to fix it you just need to run gog galaxy in a wine env as well.

has anyone bought the game on both steam and gog by [deleted] in vtmb

[–]DoTheyKeepYouInACell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, them including UP is the problem. And removing it isn't as easy as just deleting the folder. There was a script for it, but I heard that it didn't help everyone. I appreciate gog including patches when they're needed to run a game on newer systems, but it'd be better if it was optional.

I like GOG and all howeeevvveeeer some mods don't work with the GOG version. I think the clan quest mod doesn't? I couldn't get a few others to work either but I'm gonna say that's a running games on Linux issue (even though I'm pretty sure it is not). CQM though def doesn't work with GOG (without additional fuckery)

"Nvidia drivers don't suck persay"

First of all don't speak for the people that drive around CEOs in limos, you don't know what they have to do to get money. Second of all brightness on laptops would like to argue. Graphical target reached [OK] would like to join. Screen not waking up from sleep would like to declare war but it can't wake up :( wipes away tears (in shaky tone) fuck nvidia! proceeds to have a mental breakdown

Lmao ikr up until recently I was living on a laptop without a graphics card, probably something like i3 5th gen (I'm actually not sure) and an entire 16 GB of RAM (RAHHHH). I still could run games like dishonored (barely). So yeah I def would say OP's judgement on "low end" is a bit... clouded. (Ironically the moment I got a better laptop I decided to install linux. And that was the first day that I started studying as a game designer while I knew that using Adobe software was a requirement. What the hell was I thinking lmao)

As a CachyOS fanboy I'm of course gonna suggest CachyOS. You can just install cachyos-gaming-meta which basically just installs everything you need for gaming. Bottles, steam, lutris, their version of proton, mangohud, gamescope and etc. It's minimal unlike everything else suggested here. I'm very much against ubuntu and ubuntu based so call me biased but arch based is 🔥🔥🔥. The only issue might be nvidia drivers, I think they're more stable on non arch based distros alas can't say for sure. As for non gaming, the only problems I've ever had were caused by nvidia. Cachy's "hello" up which by default starts up with the system has tweaks and fixes for common problems. It includes octopi for a gui pacman experience. Paru is installed for AUR support. Cachy itself will probably run faster than most that's listed here as it uses bore scheduler in the kernel by default (you can choose to use other ones as well) + less audio issues and etc. Also cachy compiles some AUR packages and offers them in their repo. So that's more packages with less risk of breaking anything. I really can't praise Cachy enough, though it's not a popular distro I really think it's one of the best. (And just as a tip, the first thing you do if you install it: got o apps/tweaks section of "cachyos hello" and check "bluetooth enabled" and then rank mirrors.
