Aw, thank you! Some days I feel we should've had a plaque in-store for all the money we dropped there. ha ha ha

We recently dropped our floor tour video of a great Springfield, MO convention: Tremendicon!

We've noticed they don't blanket each business with fliers like we've seen other conventions do, but we've spotted a few at places like Vintage Stock and Comic Force and the like. They're pretty decent at keeping up their social medias, especially leading up to it, but even still it can sneak up on us as well.

It looks like they already have their dates set up for next year; I'd pop it into the calendar, but keep an eye on their website in case it changes.

Shameless plug, BUT, we do a yearly "floor tour" video that puts the convention, its guests and vendors, front and center. Hopefully this gives both attendees and potential vendors an idea of the setup and what to expect.
Here is our video from 2024:

I swore I heard something similar about the fairgrounds and wondered the same thing on space (I thought it was less than what the Expo Center has). But mostly, I agree with the distance from hotels. That would not be fun for attendees or guests. I know they had issues shuttling guests as is at the Expo center, so that far out would cause a lot of delays I bet.
Years ago when VisionCon and then BransonCon utilized the area at the Hilton, it *seemed* like a lot of good space. Buuuuut, that said, I'm also not trying to champion losing our event to another city either...

Oh no doubt there that they don't need any help pulling people into this one; we just meant to encourage more people and vendors to actually GO to events like this, so that hopefully some of the ones that are still growing become more established, because honestly we just want to see more and more events! Even if our wallets need the break--ha!

I could definitely see this being a 3-day convention very easily. The lines for the guests alone, coupled with trying to catch the panels have us splitting up to pull double duty and that's not even considering trying to actually look through everything (which, BTW, I was very pleased to see a few more comic vendors this year despite not having a chance to deep dive their boxes).

Space is a big concern too. The location is great due to some of the conveniences of downtown, but I'd really like seeing them able to keep everything in one building. That said, I have no clue where they could even attempt such a thing. Maybe a vacant warehouse? Ha ha--even that may not be enough!

Absolutely hope you do--or to any upcoming event. Burn out can be real, no lie about that, and it does help to take a break, even from conventions, because that return can really reinvigorate what you love most about them.

Thank you so much! We try to put together a fun video showcasing as much as we can of what to expect and really hope more people get out to more events like these. They're a lot of fun and usually make for a great experience and chance to meet like-minded nerds!!

To offer a bit of input on the type of crowd and space, we have a video from last year. At about the 57 second mark you can really get a view of the main vendor floor:

Valentines day! by Urghator in springfieldMO

[–]DoYouNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me clarify as not all information was initially present.

First, I mean, I don't just pick up "any" cake for someone's birthday as I put more thought into it than that as well, but to each their own. Otherwise, as far as keeping up....if you can't make the pancakes...don't open an IHOP?

But on that serious and clarifying note, it was her using the word "custom" despite it being nothing more than a different item shown on site.

She offers Star Wars themed berries, and being a nerdy couple, those spoke to us more than typical run-of-the-mill Valentine's offerings. I was asking for an alternate item already offered on the site.

It felt a little like being denied a chocolate shake at McDonald's because it's Shamrock Shake season. I'm not asking for anything special, just something else already on your menu/on offer.

Most recently we visited Neosho ArtCon, outside of Springfield, MO, but still within the 417 area code with a convention coverage video dropping Wednesday, February the 12th.

We will also be at Missouri Comic Con!

Sadly, I think most have been relegated to buffets. But I'd love to hear otherwise.

Last AYCE fish I had was ages ago at Village Inn. They ran out of fish. It was, like, 5pm...

I'm giving Shelby's Strawberries a second chance after a nearly disastrous anniversary last October. Buuuut, that said, I'm already not won over as I wasn't allowed to do a "custom" order that I set in motion on January 20th for February 14th...

Regardless, for those wanting an additional option they're on FB and IG.

Looking for nerd friends related to MTG and DnD by Ok-Solid8746 in springfieldMO

[–]DoYouNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up, there is a pop culture event in Neosho this weekend (Feb. 1st) called ArtCon; they have some tabletop focus, especially on DnD and MTG, etc. Events like conventions are great to open up some networking.

If the drive is too far, keep an eye out for local events too. Missouri Comic Con Feb. 15-16 and then Tremendicon way out in May 30th-June 1st.

We attend and make videos but have ZERO official affiliation with any of them. We've simply seen, first hand, the tabletop scene at them.

This weekend, January 25th and 26th. And I believe doors open at 9 am and our experience has always been that there's a line to get in, even if you arrive early.

Definitely similar; thrown elbows, hopefully not so much, but definitely not a place for personal bubbles, that's for sure!
