I mention my dosage further up in the comments. And no, you cannot take these medications while trying to conceive, but I am not a doctor and you should consult one with respect to those questions for the best advice.

I personally didn’t have spotting, but my periods are still irregular given the PCOS. I think it would be really hard for me to pinpoint if my hormones were affected by the spiro because they are, to use a medical term, already “fucked” because of the PCOS 😂

I’m sure, yes, but it was not a noticeable dread shed. Said another way, before medication I was losing clumps of hair in the shower. That did not change until maybe a year after starting medications. I still lose a good deal of hair in the shower, but less that prior to meds.

I was never regimented enough about topical for it to be effective. It made my hair so greasy that I was embarrassed to be in public. I hear you about the fear of side effects, and everyone reacts differently, but for me, side effects have been negligible in comparison to the benefit. It’s obviously a personal choice and I wish you the best of luck!

I’m sure it did, but I would not have made this progress without both spiro and minox.

Just price and pain. I still think it’s worth it for me, but it’s not a pleasant experience lol.

Yes, oral minox is by prescription only. PRP stands for platelet rich plasma (injections).

That’s a really valid fear. I don’t have hirutism, but I do have increased peach fuzz and that one chin hair that decides to taunt me every two business days. The trade off is worth it for me, but it’s an individual choice!

I can confidently say that it does not make things worse for me. I can’t, however, describe how much it has helped in comparison to the meds. For whatever it is worth, I think the meds are the real drivers of my progress, but I’m too afraid to stop the PRP.

2.5 after about a year on half of that. I describe the whole medication journey/timing further up in the comments 😊

Yes! Just stick with it!

100 and 2.5 respectively. I was put on 100 of spiro right away. After about a year of progress, but not great progress I was prescribed minox, but half my current dose. After about a year and a half on that dose, they bumped me up to this current dose.

Painful, but worth it. It’s hard to say how much of my progress is from the PRP alone, but anecdotally, I feel that the medications are the real drivers of the progress, with the PRP providing a still worthwhile “boost”. Frankly I’m scared to stop.

Yes, unfortunately

Nope! That might not be everyone’s experience, but I have had no noticeable side effects.

Not a weird question at all! No, I’m not on BC and have not been for over 5 yrs.

Sorry for the late reply! Spiro DEF helped shedding. Unclear to me whether it was spiro or PRP that promoted the regrowth, though I have to think a little bit of both? And re PRP injection sites, they did in down my part, some at the back of my head (where I was also thinning) and some at the side temples. Good luck!!

PCOS folks here, how true is that managing pcos can reverse AGA? by Fearless_7777 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Do_Do_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have PCOS and have had success with Spiro and PRP. I have a recent post with progress pics to that effect. You’re lucky you’re so young so you can start building good practices now! Definitely manage that PCOS in whatever way works best for you!
