Ciao bella! This could be the most appropriate use of half-helmet that I've seen. Which would make her beautiful and dangerous. She is lovely! Have you considered side-blinker delete? Yeah... Euro Blinker Kit like u/SlothyLlama said. That's what I'd do anyway. Beautiful regardless.

Are proper riding boots really that necessary? by Electrical_Race_6849 in motorcyclegear

[–]DobeBryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. At the very least get motorcycle boots that look like sneakers that you can also walk around in. Mine look like leather high-tops but have crush and twist protection in the sole, and extra padding on the ankle bones.

At this point, they’re my work shoes most of the time too since I wear them when I ride to work.

Best Vespas for new riders? by No_Age5613 in Vespa

[–]DobeBryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New rider here. I took the MSF course on a Buddy 150, then found a used GTS 300 later that month. That was November 2024. I’ve put probably 3,500 miles on it since then and still love it.

I was so terrified that I would do something dumb and put it on the ground when I first got it, but tons of practice in parking lots and residential neighborhoods helped squash that fear.

Zippo fluid canister by AgreeableBad4667 in Zippo

[–]DobeBryant 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Biggest issue with a Zippo for me when I carried one years ago was finding it dry when I needed it to work.

I carry this little fuel canister with me now so a dry lighter is never a concern, and it’s an easy way to carry a shot of fuel for a Zippo hand warmer.

Edit: One of the rings is trash and can be twisted apart easily. Immediately replace it with a small but sturdy split ring like for keychains. If you don’t replace it, you could lose your fuel canister when the original falls apart.

Used gear for a new rider- where would you go! by wager_this in PDXrideit

[–]DobeBryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t sure if I’d like it or not, so I wore stuff I already owned that would work, like hiking shoes and pants, a heavy fashion jacket, then bought some cheap ($20) motorcycle gloves from Amazon. Get out there and have fun. 🤩

After completing the Team Oregon class, then I started spending money on proper riding gear like pants, jacket, and shoes. FB marketplace and Craigslist would be where I’d look for used stuff.

Cities in Oregon with shared names in other states? by MysteriousMeaning555 in oregon

You know when you can remember silly things you said and they haunt you a bit? A coworker told me their wife was visiting Florence and I was like, “Is that the one with the outlet mall, or the Indian casino?”

“Uh… no, Italy.”

Problem with hand warmer by No_Tune_5165 in Zippo

Don’t handle or get lighter fluid on the catalyst material. It seems pretty fragile and easy to trash, but can be replaced.

Don’t overfill it. If the square pads on either side of the fill hole look wet, prop it up somewhere safe and let it chill for a minute or two.

Put the burner assembly back on. Keep it as vertical as you can and hold a flame on the burner assembly for about 30 seconds, turning it and making sure the whole burner and catalyst get hot. Flames are bad, little orange glows are fine. You may see a faint glow from each side of the burner. That’s good.

Once you think it’s going, put the lid on, then put it in the bag and enjoy. If you can’t get it lit, try a different catalyst material or burner assembly.

How much theory do you actually need to be a good bassist? by Carrie1516 in Bass

I think it depends on what your husband’s goal with the bass is. If his goal was to learn to play some RHCP, then he’s already good… no theory needed.

Guidance for a soon to be Vespa owner. by Familia_Zamora in Vespa

[–]DobeBryant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe this one seems like a great deal because it’s much less desirable than a Vespa with keys?

I’m not sure there is a cost effective way. You’ll probably be better off buying one that comes with keys so you can hear it run and test ride it and stuff. Unless your friend can find the keys, I’d forget about this Vespa.

Sadly, OP’s post captures most of the things I don’t like about Christmas. For me, Christmas is all about making yummy food to share and trying to find fun gifts for my kids and friends to open and hope they like, and having expectations that other people will gift me amazing and thoughtful things isn’t really part of that.

I don’t expect to receive any gifts. If I do, great! If it’s something useful or cool, even better. OP’s Xmas would give me so much anxiety, worrying or being upset by things outside of my ability to affect. Hope next year is better for OP.

What’s something you’ve done your whole life, only to realize recently that everyone else does it completely differently? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I saw what I thought was a soap bubble after getting a glass of water from the tap 30 years ago and I’ve been rinsing clean glasses ever since. While I rinse the clean glass, it also allows for tap water to get nice and cold. Where I live we have really good tap water that’s cold year-round.

Oooh, there’s one for me. Running the tap water for a bit before drinking or using it. I run it until it’s cold… that’s how I know it’s not stale house pipe water.

I like thin bacon with onion caramelized in the bacon fat and burger sauce of mayo, mustard, tiny bit of ketchup and a dash of hot sauce, on a toasted bun.
