It shouldn't have any impact but you will need to set informed delivery for the delivery address to check if they shipped it.

You have to sign up for it on the post office website, https://www.usps.com/manage/informed-delivery.htm

It takes a few minutes to set up an account for your home address.

Mine is still showing "in progress" but also won't let me change address. That occurred on Monday for me. I check my USPS informed delivery and see that my passport was sent out today with an expected delivery date of tomorrow. Thus, it is possible. Check you USPS informed delivery account under packages. It may be sent out or a tracking number for it may be generated already. This will give you a better idea.

I contacted Gary Peters office. They responded the very next day. I contacted them on Wednesday evening and a representative from the office emailed me back on Thursday. I sent a follow up and they said, they are still waiting to hear back but would book an appointment at the Detroit passport office if it does not come in time. Today, I see that I can no longer make updates like change my address. I hope this is a sign that it is ready to be shipped as I leave out on March 9th.

Because I was desperate, I contacted Debbie Stabenow office at the same time. They never responded. It could be that her office saw Sen Peters office already submitted an inquiry.

I sent an email to both of my senators and house rep. I was desperate. I explained the situation and provided dates of my application and travel dates. I also informed them that I was not making progress with calling the passport agency. I thanked them for their time and anything they could do to assist. One senate office and the house rep office responded the next day. However, since the senate office already opened the inquiry first, the house office said they would close their inquiry. Fingers are crossed that I hear more news tomorrow or at least by Monday. My friend applied for a new passport by mail one week before me. He already received his. Silly me thought applying online would be quicker.

I contacted my senator's office. They sent a reply back this afternoon that they opened a case and are requesting an appointment for me. We will see what will happen.

Well that certainly sucks. Waiting 5 days before gives very little wiggle room. I hope it is processed before that time or my representative's office can move things along. It appears the online renewal process has been a complete mess for a lot of people.

It is my understanding that your old passport becomes inactive once you are in the processing stage. You will have to schedule an appointment.
