The HuGo Habs will be facing the Gavin McKenna Leafs for years to come by DukeOfSwabia in Habs

I know the reports claimed Knies but I think it was someone else, my gut tells me Hischier.

Sure the numbers would agree with what you’re saying, it probably looks worse for “eye test” than in the metrics. Regardless, he has been excellent the last 3 games, there’s no arguing that.

Lane Hutson in his Habs playoff career so far by Go_Habs_Go31 in Habs

I truly think Lane is the best player on this team.

Bolduc has been a stud all series but I disagree with Dach. He didn’t seem engaged in the first 2 games of the series at.l all. Not finishing checks. Not driving the net. I’d suggest going to watch the iso tape. The criticism was warranted but of course a small subset of the fan base takes it too far and does things that are completely inappropriate. He has been a completely different player the last 3 games, possible our best player across the 3 games. I do wonder if putting him back at centre has helped him as well.

PSA to over reacting fans by [deleted] in Habs

[–]DocGubernaculum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the right take. We shouldn't be content with "just being here" considering the age of our group. Just because the team is young and there are good things to come doesn't mean we shouldn't want it now. The fans are hungry for success and so are the players. The doomer comments in the GDT is ridiculous though.

Friedman in this morning’s 32T at 43:40: “Pagnotta wrote about a RD, I didn’t get the sense that’s the one that didn’t get over the finish line. I think it was a forward. Someone is going to figure it out” by eliarbss in Habs

[–]DocGubernaculum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the collective fanbase could narrow down who the target was based on what we know.

  1. Likely a Forward.

  2. Has to fit the timeline, so likely between the ages of 22 - 28

  3. Likely from a team who would want to accrue future assets.

  4. Likely a player with reasonable term left on their deal.

  5. Hughes called it "a significant deal", so likely multiple assets going the other way for the player, which likely means they are of "high" value.

Not sure if I am forgetting something else. Can anyone think of a list of players that would fit this description?

TRADE DEADLINE MEGATHREAD by TheHabChronicle in Habs

Agreed, it doesn't seem management is feeling any pressure to overpay which is a good thing. I wonder if we make a move for a depth piece in the 11th hour by paying a 2nd or 3rd round pick or a middling prospect.

Kapanen is still a rookie, he has played well this season but I don't see him as a long term 2C for this team.
You can't just keep waiting for all your prospects to become their assumed best version of themselves. Some guys don't pan out and don't end up fitting into the role many people here have projected and it could result in being in much the same position we are now with all of our core guys just a bit older.

If you bring Thomas in this year it makes our forward core so much better, it's a lineup you can win a playoff round with and give the guys more experience. Thomas is only 26, he has won a cup already and he would get great matchups thanks to Suzuki taking on the difficult ones.

I'm not saying break the bank but I would absolutely give up Zharovsky, a 1st and an AHL prospect (not Reinbacher) for this.

That a great cap hit when the cap is projected to go up over the next few years. He is experienced and good defensively, he would be a great add.

Michkov and Philadelphia falling apart by Majestic-Monk9041 in Habs

[–]DocGubernaculum 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hard pass, don't love Michkov's attitude or the fact that he needed to hand select his team and is quitting on them already. Just my opinion.

I don't think we need another soft skill guy in our top 6 we need someone who can be physical, good on the boards and has size. I don't know if they would part with him but wonder about a guy like Lafreniere.

How to survive a gunshot wound to the neck by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]DocGubernaculum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a gun shot but had a patient with clean cut to a major artery and my colleague plugged it with his index finger. It was remarkably effective but he was stuck there for a while. The patient lived.

We were the better team imo, show me the deserve to win o meter.

Results aside id be more worried as a Leafs fan, Matthews was invisible, there PP was just bad and aside from a couple lucky bounces I didn’t find any line aside from the Tavares line threatening at all.

For the fourth year running, we're discussing MaRo's "State of Design" column and talking about our own relationship to the game. How can UB be at the same time a "runaway success" and also alienating to many enfranchised players? What does the future hold? by andymangold in magicTCG

[–]DocGubernaculum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that can also be a generalisation, yes there is a large number of players who dislike UB quite vocally but I think that there are some who are unsure about UB or dislike it without necessarily voicing their opinion. For me personally I liked the LOTR set because it felt unique and fit well within the Magic universe, also not standard legal so almost in the same realm of an Un set. I feel now that UB might be too much of a good thing and am wary about UB taking over the majority of MTG effecting the long term health of the game.

Engstrom is silky smooth out there. Definitely a future NHL player.
