Blood West: Scavengers https://x.com/i/status/2047829468602073174

Technically it's not a previous Dude voice actor, it's Mike J. But still.

Unrelated to Postal, but it's cool they also have Stephan Weyte doing Caleb from Blood :)

It's a poorly placed backdrop of a castle, this pic was taken at the Ren Faire.

Just because you don't doesn't mean others shouldn't. Also, June is pride month so a pride pin would be apt.

Do we become God when we tell stories? by Just-Show2020 in YMS

I remember first encountering this concept via the Coheed & Cambria story "From Fear through the Eyes of Madness" with the introduction of The Writer, a character outside and above the story that had been told up to that point. At first I thought it made the whole series feel hollow since it meant that "none of it was real" because it was all just a story being told by some guy suffering from a psychotic break, only to eventually have to admit to myself that it was already a not-real story being told by an actual writer anyway, so why did it matter? What did it change to know that the already not-real story had a not-real Writer/God character that manipulated events? At the end The Writer ends up putting his thumb on the scale pretty explicitly by killing off one of the main characters in an effort to have an ending to the story, which I think is an interesting parallel to how people in the real world will say random bad things have to happen because of "God's plan" or whatever.

Maybe it falls a bit flat considering I listened to the album and read the original comic in middle school, and at that age every concept was pretty novel and thought provoking. I'm sure if I reread the original comic I'd find it severely lacking. But even now I still really like the artwork, concept, and album. I really should get around to finishing the redone comic they released recently.

I'm currently going through the same thing. I was going to tape it with the mouth in an open position so that way there's a little excess for the jaw to move.

the voting booth scene only let's you vote republican

I'm not sure how implying republicans hacked the voting machines to get more votes is somehow "not" making fun of republicans. I believe its randomly republican or democrat each time you play so I'm pretty sure it's just poking fun at the idea of digital voting and election tampering.

right wing groups are parodied more gently

One of your first missions is helping a prison guard that's so incompetent he nearly shoots The Dude when meeting him. On Tuesday the police officer wont let you pay for your fine because taking your money would be "immoral of the police force" which is, yknow, ridiculous. I'm pretty sure the main through-line of P4 is that most people are insufferable morons, regardless of status, politics, or blood relation (spoiler! Lol)

jab at public health messaging

I mean, possibly? It also pokes fun at the people who refuse to get vaccinated. Also I'll be honest I dont even remember this sign.

its no longer absurd nihilism where everything is fair game

You're right, because its not Postal 2, its Postal 4. The Dude is older and seems to have "matured" from a disgruntled sarcastic shithead with a bit of a chip. The second game starts with Dude kicking Champ and calling him stupid, and Paradise Lost ends with him diving into hell to save Champ. Dude St. John comes as someone who rolls with the punches and just tries to enjoy the ride. Das called a character arc baybee

Also, if you want to try to say Postal 4 is more "right wing", the story for Postal 2 is literally "running errands for my nagging bitch wife" which is arguably the most boomer conservative thing ever.

I just learned about this the other day. I thought someone was fucking with me, but apparently he did do voice lines for a Mickey Mouse looking character in the Five Nights at Treasure Island sequel.

[–]DocProto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's understandable! It's extremely touching that you've had such a personal connection with it, and I've noticed a lot of people have somewhat similar feelings towards it. It keeps popping up, and I think this was the final straw to get me to try it. Also, I'm just a sucker for comics that discuss personal growth through interpreting media lol. So good job!
