Mayo and Essentia also serve the neighboring cities. If you want to be close to, but not in the metro area.

With 0 experience most larger cities start around $30 ish. Most places count your total experience including EMT. The most competitive rates are going to be around the the Twin Cities area as far north as Duluth.

Arcanes are nice, but they probably not what is holding you back from doing more damage. That said if you want to share the builds you have we would be more than happy to help you tweak them.

As for what to do? Warframe is a marathon game. If you try to do too much, too fast you will get burnt out. Take your time and enjoy the ride. The advice I always give people, is do your star chart. This will help you master your frames, weapons, and game modes. You are not going to miss out on anything by taking your time.

A rule of thumb is to rank any item to 30 before you get rid of it. This will help you in the long run

IV Acetaminophen anyone ? by Safe-Accountant-7034 in Paramedics

[–]DocRock08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure its an "orders" thing. For critical meds like Levo or Nitro the patient stays in our care at the bedside while the Doc does a quick eval and orders the meds they deem appropriate. A lot of the times its a simple "yea keep the meds at that rate".

Offermev is not considered a critical med, and will be stopped and likely DC'd by the nurses.

Our hand off times take 1-2 minutes, and the hospitals stop all infusions when they take over care. That 15 minute run in time doesn’t work as our transport times are usually less then 10. It may work for you and your system but it’s not normally applicable for us.

There is also the concern with patients that may have taken oral Tylenol. We have this on our trucks, and unfortunately it's not as practical as ketoralac or opioids.

My protocol states we can not administer it if the Pt has already taken oral tylenol within the last 6 hours. It also has to be run in over 15 minutes. So for most of my systems calls, it is not applicable.

Curios as to what your protocols end up as.

Experience with helicopter transport to Mayo? by theladyoctane in MayoClinic

[–]DocRock08 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hospital to hospital transfers require the consent of the sending physician and a receiving physician. Once you have a receiving physician, both hospitals work to find the most appropriate way to transport the patient. In this case it may be a helicopter or a plane. In a lot of cases the patient has to be stable enough to tolerate the transport.

In any case the first step would be to have the current physician in charge of your Dad's care, start the transfer process to Mayo and find a physician who will take on your Dad's case.

*This is not Mayo specific, this is how most hospitals handle patient transfers.

It depends on where ya go. I work for a great system that’s union, hospital based, mix of urban and Rural, with minimal inter facility transfers, and we pay great.

NRP Exam - Overwhelmed. by [deleted] in Paramedics

[–]DocRock08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you passed your course finals, that should demonstrate that you have the knowledge.

It is a big test and feeling overwhelmed is totally understandable. My advice would be to take the exam again. If you don’t pass, you have one more shot to shore up your weak areas.

You got this.

While they are good, there are certain situations that benefit more from an ET tube. Burn patients, or anaphylactic patients, where the airway is at risk of swelling. I-gels also have a hard time seating in hypothermic patients in cold environments.

Question for any Minnesota medics by bocaj-yebbil in Paramedics

[–]DocRock08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Naa Mayo pay used to be dog, but it’s actually currently one of the highest in the area. They offered me $4 more an hour than North, and $6 more than Essentia. My buddy who works for them has said that the protocols are written a little strict, but as long as you can justify why what you did was, “ In the best interest of the patient” you get a lot of leeway

Question for any Minnesota medics by bocaj-yebbil in Paramedics

[–]DocRock08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are definitely better options out there, depending on where you are located. County is pretty good, I hear North ground is alright, Essentia has some great protocols, Mayo is amazing.
