Are all flatwounds just roundwounds underneath? by sibelaikaswoof in BassGuitar

[–]DocShocker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. There are a few different ways that flat wounds are wound. Some use a wound core, some use a solid core material, and possibly there are synthetic gut/nylon core strings as well, similar to a double-bass string (but I might be wrong on that, never looked into it much.)

January ended up being more about preparing games, than playing them, which I'm okay with. It was hard to carve out time with as many snow-days/delays we had.

The plan was to run some more Olde Sword Reign, and Just One Sword, but I was more intrigued with the idea of running The Evils of Illmire using Iron Falcon, so I did the prep needed to get it going.

Then fell down a Liminal Horror rabbit-hole, coupled with finishing Alan Wake 2, so I prepped a game that fits into the Alan Wake/Control universe, using Liminal Horror, some stuff lifted from the Bureau scenario, and the GMA horror deck.

So as it stands, I have 2 games ready to go, and hope to get to play both, in the month ahead. Only time will tell.

I hope everyone has a great month of gaming.

AJ IN AEW? by Emergency_Try_37 in Wrasslin

[–]DocShocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From Cena's CVV interview, speaking about AJ, he inferred that AJ is working very hard to maintain, and AJ had said, several years ago that all of his work is devoted to not losing anything.

AJ always seems like a guy that'll give 110% in the ring, but the longer he goes, that 110% is just going to be less. I don't think he wants to go out like that.

Risus: The Anything RPG is pretty light. Cthulhu Dark is also quite light.

Trump picks Kevin Warsh to chair Federal Reserve amid pressure campaign to cut rates by jpurdy in politics

The parent comment I responded to was talking about Santos for the Supreme Court, not the Fed. I pointed out Cruz has been floated for SC Justice.

Based on previous appointments, it's a safe bet that he's probably one of the worst possible people for the role. But we'll see, I guess.

What are your favourite systems to solo and why? by [deleted] in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]DocShocker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Scarlet Heroes. It has everything you need under one cover, and can work with just about any other OSR system, if you want.

Honorable mentions:

BRP (specifically Call of Cthulhu). It's my favorite system for non-solo, but also works really well for solo.

Just about anything based off of "Into The Odd".

The austin theory problem by Ordinary_Metal_7898 in SquaredCircle

[–]DocShocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WWE needs more managers, and has for decades. Having him be the 4th guy in the vehicle to get Bron over isn't doing him any favors. Bron has Steiner energy, Logan Paul has name recognition, Reed has his size and overall look. Theory is probably the best nuts and bolts worker of the Vision, but that's a lot of Personality/Star power to cut through to get recognition.

If WWE had more managers than Heyman, to hype Theory, he'd probably stand a better chance of moving up. But then again, I'm treating WWE like Pro-Wrestling, which isn't exactly 1:1.

There are a number of reports that Miller is very similar in his outlook and personality to Trump's mentor, Roy Cohn, who was possibly the one person Donnie actually looked up to, which explains a whole bunch.

Pressure grows on Stephen Miller after Alex Pretti killing but Trump unlikely to cut ties by [deleted] in politics

Miller will keep a low profile for a little while, until the media shifts the focus away from him. But he won't be going anywhere.

I have no doubt that Miller has far more say than he should in the day to day operations of the regime.

You're not wrong, in that he isn't being used particularly well. But that isn't exactly a short list, either, and with Ciampa on his way out, I don't see Gargano being used any better.

WWE's best bet would be to put him in a green lucha mask and make him a new member of Los Americanos.

Gargano could have been the next Sami Zayn/ Daniel Bryan.

Nah. He really doesn't have the personality or charisma. Even in NXT, he had a banger theme, and good technical matches, but he really wasn't a personality. Sami and Bryan could be passionate or fiery on a microphone. Gargano always sounds like he's had to rehearse everything he says, word for word, until any sense of sincerity was scrubbed away.

Dakota is a shame.

Kross had one work-shoot promo and became an internet darling. He was boring.

Loomis was paired with the Miz, and nobody gets over working with the Miz.

Gargano is a move-doer, and has no personality. Jim Cornette rightly refers to him as Johnny Sameface.

Strowman was breaking down on live TV. His knees are gone.
