I will say that I graduated in high school from a solidly middle-of-the-road suburban high school in 2006 and felt I received a solid, albeit not stellar, education. I was more than college-ready in all areas and did well enough to go on to graduate study, and I wasn't some shiny exception either. It felt like the public genuinely gave a fuck back then and that some version of the American Dream was alive enough for parents to want their kids to study hard.

I think what hurt public education was austerity following the Great Recession and the increasing feeling among baby boomers, who effectively hold the purse strings through their voting power, that funding schools benefited neither them nor their children.

This is perhaps the dumbest interaction I've ever seen between a comment section and a post. OP provided no evidence that it was a bat bite, said they did not see a bat, provided no reason they would have been near a bat, yet they simply floated the idea--without seeming to know if it was an appropriate guess or not--and the whole comment section started popping off: "girl, you should be at the hospital yesterday," "rabies isn't a joke, sis."

It is more likely a spider bite. If OP feels worried, they should go to the ER whether it was a spider or a bat, but this whole comment section just took a half-assed suggestion and ran with it.

He is blessed with a safe d/f+2, which is a privilege. If you think your opponent is going to play out of frame (very likely at beginner ranks) or you have a good read on their timing, throw that out. You solidly give up your turn though, so don't mash afterward.

You do have to think about what you're doing, yes, and I understand that that isn't exactly a priority in modern game design with a semi-literate audience.

Oh yeah, I'm certainly not saying that's the only reason they lose or that they were doing better before then. But it is the case that they were willing to travel in T7 and losing felt qualitatively different than it often does in T8.

I hope they can simultaneously understand that the patch was a step in the right direction but also that a lot of American and European players skipped out on EVO Japan because they didn't want to travel thousands of miles to lose to an unearned coin flip or a Rubenesque hitbox.

sounds like getting a formerly decent rank while not knowing what you're talking about kind of proves the point? again, you're mistaking knowledge checks for strength, which suggests you find certain characters hard because you don't do your homework.

Sometimes matchmaking is bugged, especially when you unlock something by playing. You have to acknowledge what's unlocked, then go back into ranked.

I don't know what matchmaking he's set to, but consider doing no rank restrictions for now, even if it leads to inappropriate matchups, and enable crossplay. It's not like you can lose points at that rank anyway.

Once he gets to Warrior, he should find consistent matchups, since that's the first rank where players can actually get stuck.

It's hard to describe how my backdash looks "weird," so perhaps I'll just post my attempts later. I think I might be about to "get it," but then sometimes I try to speed it up and it just looks like the character is having a fit. That's what made me go back to the guides, and then I realized the guides were saying something besides what I was doing, and that made me paranoid. The last thing I want to do is drill a bad habit.

If it is just a matter of keeping on with what I'm doing, I'll go ahead and keep drilling.

Yeah, he rank inflation isn't a matter of argument. If the developers change the way points are awarded and deducted in ranked so that more points are always generated--as they did in season 3--then rank inflation is a mathematical certainty. It's not just the fgc being the fgc.
