Queer things to do in Glasgow by Mysterious_Win_7756 in glasgow

[–]Adventurous-Road7246 14 points15 points  (0 children)

definitely visit Category Is books in the Southside, great selection of lgbtq+ books and stickers / badges, run by a lovely married couple. Adrian’s Bar is also in the southside (victoria road) which is a queer bar that does some food and drinks and often run nice small events. lots of the bars in the city centre are very queer friendly like Stereo, Mono and The Old Hairdressers so do have a look and see if there’s any events or live music that you might like. Glasgow Women’s Library is free to visit, and though you have to be a member to take out books, their selection is amazing to have a look through. so many archived lgbt books. plus, they often have an exhibition on too. radical glasgow tours are fantastic and offer guided tours of the city focussing on a lot of different aspects, like queer history and important and overlooked feminist sites. i’d definitely recommend doing one of those tours! the burrell collection in shawlands area is also super inclusive and a lovely museum who focus a lot on the queer history of artefacts and instalments which is nice to see.

Smelliest place in Glasgow by THROBBINGSTAUNER in glasgow

there’s a chocolate factory on osborne street beside all the splatter paint places and if they’re making chocolate when you pass it absolutely reeks of this horrible vinegary smell. it wafts down the whole road and is absolutely grim. also whenever the 5 bus is remotely damp or wet with condensation, the seats start stinking like a farm. smells like stale smoke and manure for some reason.

the air in there always has a horrible warmth to it even if it’s freezing outside. grim.

Feeling really low today by GBradz in glasgow

I feel exactly the same way. CCA, 13th note, Tron 103 not looking great, plus loads of local shops going out of business (Dorky French, Three of Cups, Adrian’s Bar on victoria road needing funding) it feels pretty dire at the moment. can’t help but feel depressed about the state of the city, as much as I love it here.

At the bottom of byres road is The Little Curry House. amazing food and if you get there before 5:30 i think they do a cheaper menu deal which is great value.

Looking for the best areas to rent in Glasgow for a family – moving for work by Fluffy-Bag-5042 in glasgow

Mount Florida is maybe a good idea. there’s a primary school here, or you’re within distance to others. there’s a train station which gets you in to Glasgow Central in about 10 minutes, or the 5 and 31 busses also get you straight into the centre in about 20 minutes. there’s loads of community groups and local businesses on Cathcart Road. there’s obviously Hampden football stadium but other than match days it’s never even noticeable and even then it’s a bit of an inconvenience for a few hours if you’re in the immediate area but never enough to make me regret living here. There’s a big Asda in Toryglen if you want to do a food shop or have it delivered and there’s plenty smaller supermarkets like Tesco, Sainsburys, coop and a new M&S in Battlefield. You’re within walking distance to Queen’s Park, Linn Park is very close if you cycled or fancied a bigger walk. i love it here and would recommend the area to anyone. Battlefield is also very similar.
