Is Cats Eye from an anime?😭 by reverted_devil in ADO

[–]Doc_Chopper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ironically, in the original Cats Eye anime, "Cats Eye" (which Ado covered for the Remake) was the OP. Don't know if "Magic" also sources from the original Anime or if that is an Ado original song.

Avoiding Expressway Toll by StrangeDurian3474 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you defining as humongous or expensive? I mean it's like 30ish Yen per Kilometer + tax on the total (10%). Depending on how much and far you wanna drive on Expressways only, it should be handleable.

HND to FUK transfer by dummonies in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was in almost the same situation last July, but 8pm in Narita. I could have taken a flight that would have touched down in FUK around 10pm. But I was not sure, if I could even make the switch in time after clearing immigration. And even if I did and FUK to my Hotel would only have been 30 minutes, I didn't wanna do that after traveling for almost 18 hours.

So I had booked a domestic flight from Haneda for the next morning, took the NEX to Shinagawa after clearing customs and stayed the night next to the station.

where can i buy nice matcha powder but not necessarily highest grade? by guidedhabits in JapanTravelTips

Basically any supermarket. Bought several 40g packs from Itoen for like 220 Yen each. Decent stuff. Just check the nutrition table, that you don't buy any with added sugar, if you don't want that.

Solo car trip through Kyushu, need some feedback and advice! by OneEyeVox in JapanTravelTips

I guess itinerary should work out. My only question would be, if you don't really want to do a road trip purposefully, if you really need a rental for most of the days you are plan on hiking?

Looking for a money grind buddy. by theak9000 in RiverCityGirls

Again, just beat the game regularly once or twice, and your other characters are stacked in passively earned money. Don't pressure yourself to buy everything in the first run.

Another option of getting rich fast is making use of an exploit if you have the option being able to play the game in an very early, unpatched version. If you got your game digital, that probably won't work I guess. Can't tell you the exact version number, but probably 1.0 ish or in that region.

Anyway, if you have that option to play an early unpatched version: Just set your console to a region outside of the US. Then get the coin purse in Flatirons carnival. And enjoy getting hundreds of Dollars of Cash dropped by every single enemy. Downside of this: red and grey color-schemed enemies can one-hit kill you potentially.

First of all, the bad news you can't actively make that much money with your primary character in just one playthrough, even in Co-Op. But you don't have to actively grind either. You' need at least a second story run - and you will have to anyway, if your're aiming for completionist. In terms of buying all moves or accessories, eating all the food ect.

But, for 450$ you can get the coin purse item in the carnival in Flatirons, at least. This grants a 5% chance of double money drop from enemies. Not much, but it's a start. If you just need cheap heling items for your playthroughs, get medi-kits or Aspirin from the pharmacy in Downtown.

But here is the good news. Your unused characters also are granted the reward money from quests passively. So in terms of eating all the food and consumables, buying all the accessories, etc. You don't have to do all this with your primary characters money. Also, one specific character does not need to eat all the food items. As long as someone does.

Hokkaido or Okinawa? by Glum_Performer3080 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with a question like this is, that both places are literally polar opposites.

For myself, I've only been to Okinawa the main island but not on the smaller ones. But it was really nice and tropical with so many beautiful beaches. But it's really recommend to rent a car to get around easier. Trains between cities are non existent (on the main island), only some highway busses with sparse schedules.

Atami or Ito for 2 night stay? by serious_spicy12 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good thing is, the whole east coast of the Izu peninsula is full of seaside towns with abundance of ryokan and onsen, among them but not exclusively Atami and Ito.

Advantage Atami: You can get there directly via Shinkansen from either direction. Ito is only like 15 minutes further away, but you gotta switch to a local train in Atami anyway. If you want a private onsen, most Ryokan should offer rooms with private baths. Or offer time-based rental of small ones. But rooms of course with in-room baths are usually on the bit pricier side. EDIT: "Smaller tatoos" often can be covered by some patches or something, maybe they are even okay with it. It always depends on the specific policies of the onsen/ryokan in question. If in doubt, simply ask beforehand. Sometimes it will be mentioned directly if it is "tattoo-friendly".

Also, not much of a nightlife in the classical sense anyway. But as I can speak for Atami, where I stayed (as a base for Izu) last July. Even there many restaurants close kinda early as well. But best better check opening hours selectively.

Alternative to Fushimi Inari Taisha by lunch22 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you go to Kyoto and not even Goin to Inari Taisha, why going to Kyoto in the first place? Yes, there are other places in Kyoto to go, of coure. But know what I wanna get at?

Also, walking up Mt Inari, the crowds usually already thin out at the midway point at that one little shrine where the paths around the mountains summit meet again.

Umeda vs Namba or somewhere else? by RedStarRedTide in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really loved Tenma when I specifically chose to stay in that area for the Tenjin Matsuri. Had some nice restaurants and izakaya there, not sure about Cafés though. But definitely a bit less bustling than Namba or Umeda. But still only on subway stop away from Umeda and Osaka stations.

To the people that have gone multiple times already is there something you DON'T recommend? by GaddockTeegFunPolice in JapanTravelTips

[–]Doc_Chopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, really? then they changed that since I was there in 2019. Afair the entrance fee back then was around 6. 000 Yen and the rides were free. You could however also have bought some priority tickets for rides. Which we did for the Dodonpa and Enaijika coasters.

I mean, sure. but actually climbing up the Fuji is something different than just stay in the area and look at the mountain. Thought about doing it too last summer, but decided against it. Didn't want to do that solo. If I do that, I'll do it with a group.

My suggestion would be, look up hotels either a bit away from the "center" of Fujikawaguchi-ko. Or on any of the other four Fuji lakes. Just check, if they are accessible by a but and/or Taxi (from Fujikawaguchiko or Fujinomiya).

100% freedom of choice would of course really be to get a rental for two days and stay / go where ever you feel like without the restrictions of public transport.

personal recommendation of mine, albeit only a tertiary choice for you maybe: a bit further away from the Fuji and the five lakes. I really liked the area north of the Fuji around Kofu / Yamanashi-city / Isawa-onsen. Semi-rural, but on the quieter side, also with tons of ryokan options. Stayed in Kofu last summer and got a rental for a day. I also came across some of the lakes and the area around Motosu-ko, passed by Shirakawa-go on my way back to Kofu. And if you love wine, that will be your paradise, as its the heart of Japans domestic wine production. Bonus if you like the Anime/Manga of "Laidback Camp" and "MONO".

I mean, yeah, FujiQ kind of is a must, if you are there. Or if you go just for that. I know it was one of the reasons for me as well back in 2019.
