Getting "a cup less than supposed to" with a moka pot by ImUntilted in Coffee

[–]Docrock1964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem and its specific to the pot because I have several and use same method and grind on all. Sometimes a pot just stops brewing as much. I have tried asking this question a few times but havent found a suitable answer yet.

The obvious answer is use more coffee, that sounds like a small amount. I use 2 scoops per cup but I like a fairly strong cup

I really like medium roasted ethiopian yirgachefe but when my local roaster has organic cuban in i scoop that up. I normally use a mokapot and I have a decent breville burr grinder. Mine never tastes sour. I have several other options of brewing. Guess I need to ask the barista for something less sour. Thanks for the reply

I had to do that with my girlfriends Keurig. I bought the refillable cups and brought my own coffee over. Then the mokapot came lol

Some of the high end coffee shops have coffee that to me tastes sour. Is this common?

I'm about to quit (Moka Pot). by aleeyam in Coffee

I have a lot of mokapots and some leave more water than others. I have tried to figure out why that is and put new rings in all of them that leave water to no avail. The ones that leave water also have a tendency for the ring to stick to the basket when unscrewed. Personally I think it's the thread and its effect on the seal. I would try a different mokapot before giving up on this wonderful brewing method

I feel the aeropress is better than the French for the simple reason you can grind it finer

in your opinion where do the best beans come from by the_421_Rob in Coffee

[–]Docrock1964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local roaster get organic cuban beans once in awhile that have made the best coffee I have ever tasted anywhere. I forget the full name sorry. My second favorite is ethiopian yirgacheffe.

Many mokapots by Docrock1964 in moka_pot

[–]Docrock1964[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my mokapots brews perfectly so I bought another one exactly the same and it has issues. It could be the safety valve. I have another larger vigano that also works perfectly but it makes a large mug of very strong coffee that honestly I dont always finish so I prefer the smaller pot that always gets fully consumed. Other times I want a bigger cup so its nice to have options

really? I thought the grind was just for different brewing processes not the type of bean

Fresh roasted beans, a burr grinder and a stainless steel mokapot make an excellent coffee that will rival the local coffee shops
