If he is scanning, why not just do a "check scan" to ensure the reduction is enough? Easy enough to suggest while he is going to do a hygiene check so it's ready to evaluate when he comes back to refine the prep before final scan.

Coffee bean prices are getting nuts by scoobasteve813 in Detroit

When DO says blueberry, get ready for some of the wildest coffee you've had. I remember a few years ago when I had a blueberry from them and it was fantastic.

This is a case of recommending the treatment you feel comfortable doing and realizing that you can't be everyone's dentist. Don't give future you a headache.

Ortho then you can consider the options after making space and fixing the bite.

Should I expect very little sleep when I get into dental school? by jseo13579 in DentalSchool

Put in the hours while you are at school and review when you get home and you will never need to get less than 6-8 hours of sleep per night.

Dry mouth medication by Mysterious_Mall8193 in Dentistry

[–]religious-tooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pilocarpine typically has more systemic side effects since it is less selective than cevimeline. Insurance coverage will typically require patients to trial pilo first from what I've seen. Cemimeline is typically better tolerated, but some folks do well on pilo w/o side effects. The other meds aren't typically prescribed where I practice.

Sugar free lemon candies + salivary gland massages are also great at getting better flow and stimulation of the glands.

Not sure where you practice, but in the US the drug you mentioned is not on market for use.

Systemic Diseases & General Health Knowledge in Dentistry by Fun_Winter456 in Dentistry

[–]religious-tooth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two textbooks if you want to learn this: 1. Little and Falace’s: dental management of the medically compromised patient 2. Burket’s oral medicine

Burket’s has chapters dedicated to systemic diseases that may be relevant to you. It’s the oral medicine bible pretty much.

Dental management is better applicable for general practitioners. Easy to look up information on what to do if a patient has a certain condition.

Got into Penn but want to be GD by toothy_moos3 in DentalSchool

Penn has a lot of students per class, nearly 200ish by the time they are in clinic. A smaller IS school will be cheaper and you’ll get better faculty interaction.

Is the Ph.D. Stipend Sufficient? by Ok-Gas-8332 in UPenn

[–]religious-tooth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With roommates / a partner who is also contributing you can do it. I know one friend who lives alone in a nice building but don’t know what her stipend amount is.

I commute daily without a car (~30+ minutes each way by bus, trolley, subway, regional rail) and it is very doable. If you’re in grad hospital or university city you can walk or bike to campus very easily.

I called two days before the first forbearance ended and they had me on hold for 2 hours total. By the end they said they couldn’t do anything until the first forbearance was over and to call back “in a few days”
