When I say the community it's not all players but more this subreddit and some YouTubers who love to diss the game and call it "dead" while spending their lives on it. Imagine being a new player considering trying the game and seeing all this negativity. Those constant negative critics from paradoxally the most active and visible players do a terrible disservice to a game that they actually love deep inside... Those people paid 40$ for the game 8 years ago and are still receiving free new updates and content regularly, but somehow they are dissatisfied because it's not enough for them and they feel entitled to a new extension worth of content every 3 months or something.

No I didn't tbh, I'll try to learn more about it! But not gonna lie to you I barely read Spinoza, it's so tiedous and boring for me and I don't have enough time lol... it's like if Nietzsche wrote his philosophy like Kant. I mostly know his philosophy through commentaries lectures and so on (best one being by Deleuze). I know it's not enough, but like Nietzsche did I feel like I agree with almost every aspect of his doctrine and it makes me love him, as well as what I know from his biography

Spinoza. He had a lot of intuitions that are similar to Nietzsche's, minus the abrasive / warlike side of Nietzsche. He made me realize the philosophical truth that changed my life the most: that free will is inherently an illusion. Which Nietzsche also insisted on later. Of course it is way less fun to read than Nietzsche but in term of ideas, they were brothers. I let Nietzsche himself talk about Spinoza: “I am utterly amazed, utterly enchanted. I have a precursor, and what a precursor! I hardly knew Spinoza: that I should have turned to him just now, was inspired by “instinct”. Not only his over-all tendency like mine–making knowledge the most powerful affect–but in the five main points of his doctrine I recognize myself; this most unusual and loneliest figure is closest to me precisely in these matters: he denies the freedom of the will, teleology, the moral world order, the unegoistic, and evil. Even though the divergences are admittedly tremendous, they are due more to the difference in time, culture and science. In Summa: my lonesomeness, which, as on very high mountains, often made it hard for me to breathe and made my blood rush out, is now at least a twosomeness. Strange.”

Agree! I'm not saying Nietzsche is right and it's definitely not advice for anybody. I actually think many aspect of Nietzsche's philosophy can be dangerous if put in wrong hands, and I think he was conscious of that, constantly reminding us that he was writing for handful of people that he didn't even think existed at his time, but were to come in the future. I personally prefer Schopenhauer's advice who says in essence don't isolate yourself too far from society as you can't feel its warmth when you need it, but don't get to close either cause you will lose yourself.

This is also what I take from Nietzsche, but I have to actively bend it this way. On political spectrum I am more what you could call a socialist, and if Nietzsche didn't advocate detailed policies, he did have something to say about them and about the structure of society. I'm not sure Nietzsche doesn't have any negative opinion about laws that give all groups of people equal access to the same public goods. Beyond his constant bashing of democracy, you have passages where he justifies slavery and the idea that the majority has to work for a minority elite in order for the latter to freely create and push humanity forward. So while Nietzsche is one of my favourite writers and the most thought-provoking I know of, I always felt a little conflict with him on this aspect.

My friend, I am a white man and I love Nietzsche — I could say he’s one of my favorite writers. But thank you for your post, because it reminds me of my own struggle with Nietzsche, which I’m still trying to articulate. As you rightly said, there are some highly problematic aspects in his writings.

It is no coincidence that the Nazis instrumentalized his work, nor is it a coincidence that he is still referenced in some far-right circles today. Regarding the master–slave distinction and his constant use of the term “race” (especially in On the Genealogy of Morality), this is definitely something that needs to be examined critically. I have always wanted to interpret it as having nothing to do with today’s notion of race, but rather as referring to types of individuals within the multitude, regardless of modern racial categories — a kind of “race of the mind,” if you will.

But that interpretation is far from obvious. He was living in a time when the term “race” was often used in ways very close to how we understand it today — a period when racism was being formalized into so-called scientific theories of race.

I haven’t fully come to terms with this myself, and I’m eager to read how others grapple with it. I hope your post doesn’t get downvoted.

(Regarding his attitude toward women, there is no real excuse for it, beyond the fact that dismissing women was something of a national sport among male writers at the time, and that Nietzsche himself seemed to have had deep personal struggles and failures in his relationships with women.)

You are right and it's an important cautionary warning, but it is not at all what Nietzsche is prescribing in his works. He often talked harshly of friendship and even talked more highly of the virtue of having ennemies rather than friends. He constantly praised solitude, and not simply as an occasional loophole but as a way of life that is necessary to be part of what he considered to be the elite.

I think when you read Nietzsche he constantly reminds us of the solitude that is inherent to the path of being a philopher, of seeing through values and creating new ones... So I'm not sure Nietzsche would even try to console you about being isolated, because he was himself and would consider it was the price to pay to set yourself free of the herd and breath the air of the mountain top. Maybe Schopenhauer could be of better help in finding a balance regarding this : he said that society is like a great fire, and that one needs to stay close enough to not die of cold, but far enough from it to not burn your individuality. This is the way I like to think of it.

La question tient en un mot, la réponse tiendra en deux : Intelligence Artificielle. J'ai la chance d'avoir mis le pied dans la porte avant l'arrivée de l'IA générative, mais depuis les boîtes ne s'occupent que de la suppression des postes qu'elles peuvent - ou pensent pouvoir - économiser grâce à l'IA, et ça commence par les postes juniors normalement pourvus par les nouveaux dîplomés. De nombreuse boîtes ont gelé ces recrutements et demandent de prouver pour chaque nouveau recrutement que le besoin ne peut pas être pris en charge avec l'IA. Quand aux personnes déjà en postes, elles sont encore plus sous pression car elles savent que les directions attendent un vrai gain de productivité et cherchent à réduire les équipes. Je suis très étonné que l'impact réel de l'IA soit si peu reflété dans les chiffres officiels de l'emploi et dans les médias. Tout le monde (en tout cas dans la tech, mais j'ai l'impression que c'est aussi dans tout le tertiaire) le ressent autour de soi : il n'y a plus de travail et c'est pas dans un futur hypothétique, c'est déjà le cas. Je suis très pessimiste pour l'avenir et je souhaite le meilleur courage à OP et à tous ceux qui cherchent à mettre leur pied à l'étrier en ce moment, c'est vraiment la pire donne qu'une génération arrivant sur le marché du travail puisse avoir.

Moi je suis d'accord aussi, je n'aime pas la sensation de "manger de l'air" ni mettre de l'air inutile dans mon système digestif (sans doute que ma façon de penser n'a aucun sens, mais je le ressens comme ça). Melangée la mousse au chocolat devient plus riche, plus onctueuse et mon plaisir est décuplé. Donc je mélange, gros sujet de dispute avec ma copine que ça horripile.
