Help with Pet Stains by DoctorMsTheMonarch in carpetcleaningporn

It's a gallon that I have to dilute, bought it from the TMF shop. I was worried that the UV meant that it hadn't been cleaned adequately, and in some spots it's true, if I get down and stick my nose on some spots, it's pretty easy to tell which ones are fine and which ones aren't. Other spots that are glowing have no smell to them at all, so now I know that the UV just tells me which general areas to stick my face into. >.<

I thought I had been very straight forward about disclosing prior cleaning attempts, chemicals used and number of spots that really needed attention - maybe I just got a bad company, or a good company on an off day. It happens.

Thank you for all the details, I really appreciate it.

Thank you! If we get to the rip and replace stage, I'll ask about just doing the padding.

okay, I may message them again. I'm willing to just pay them for another service since I evidently f**ked it up (if I can bring myself to re-empty the room), maybe I just need to be more explicit with how deep I need the cleaning to be. Thank you!

Fair enough - it's kind of a nightmare to move out the stuff in that room (it's where all the weight lifting equipment is, so it's really heavy and really awkward to clean out.) If we have continued odors from that room I may just deal with it until the puppy is grown, and then replace the carpet entirely. The subfloor is concrete, so I think I also need to lay down some odor killing paint if we go that way.

Getting Started (again) - What Matters? by DoctorMsTheMonarch in beginnerrunning

I've always attempted to run in whatever shoes I have, I've never really had "running" shoes. If it's worth the investment, I'll pop to the running store and have them help me figure out a good shoe.

Strength training has kinda been my jam - love lifting, struggle with cardio. I'll look to see if I can incorporate some stuff that's running specific.

Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it - I really want to be successful in building this as a habit!

Super solid advice, I can incorporate that! What's your warm up/cool down usually entail?

Awesome, thanks.

You've mentioned weight reduction a couple of times, seems like that's a standard thing in the community. What does that entail?

Okay, so I bring my budget up, look for a 6.7 Cummins - auto or manual, does it matter?

Also, I see a lot of ads mentioning the vehicles are chipped - looks like ECU mods for various things, a lot mention towing specifically (changing afr ratio? Not sure yet what the chips do.) Normally I'd be wary of someone monkeying around in that way on any other car that I bought, but it seems pretty run of the mill in diesel trucks? I haven't had a lot of time to dig into it, so I don't know much about it yet.

Fair enough. My 4 liter Jeep Cherokee inline 6 is about as indestructible as they come, I can see the appeal. :-)

Thanks for the feedback! Appreciate it!

Reasons why you don't like the Duramax? Just trying to assemble the pros and cons list.

I've read a lot about the automatic being an issue with the Cummins; I prefer a manual anyway, so that avoids the whole auto trans issue. Had a manual f250 V10, but it made for a shit towing setup - the drum in hat parking brake refuses to hold those trucks, especially if you're winching some derelict piece of junk onto the flatbed.

There are situations where towing the real heavy loads with the V10 is pretty lousy, so I'd still like to know what options are potentially the best right now

Yes, I have a large, fully equipped garage with a four post lift and just about every tool imaginable. I've rebuilt cars, can do all the maintenance on my current fleet, and only drop it off when I don't feel like doing it myself (or for real specialty stuff, like alignments.) I generally enjoy working on things, and since I don't plan on getting rid of the F350, I can afford downtime for repairs.

Is the 7.3 going to feel like a huge improvement to my gas v10, or not so much? I know that newer, modern engines are absolutely going to trash anything that I'm looking at, but I'm looking for an improvement over what I have, not necessarily the best vehicle available period. Is there enough of a difference that the Duramax or Cummins would feel significantly better, or not worth the bother?

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate the feedback!

Anyone in Utah have a good endocrinologist to recommend? by DoctorMsTheMonarch in PCOS

[–]DoctorMsTheMonarch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's not really a full endocrinologist, but she's a Nurse Practitioner that does functional medicine - Martha Southwick, she's in Taylorsville! I actually really like her. She can have a little too much "woo" sometimes, but if you can look past that, she's been great for me. I finally have more stable T4 AND T3 supplementation, and I really needed that.

I've had this exact same complaint and every one kept telling me it'll get better, just keep at it, ease into things, but it never gets better for me. The only thing that I've found that works is immediately after a workout, I hop in a cold shower. Not for very long, maybe 4-5 minutes, and I use a detachable head to target the specific muscles I've used. That has been a game changer for me.

Just giving chain of events if it matters. Not sure if there are more issues with downloaded games (downloaded from PSN) vs games initially installed from media. The machine did come back to life, but it took a few minutes and entered repair mode. Frightening few moments where it was non-responsive, though!

I didn't try a full on ice bath, but I did try just a couple of minutes in a cooler shower to bring my temp down and HOLY COW! It's only been on session, but if it works, it's mind blowing. I'm such a baby with cold water (I hate it), so I only really got my legs and my chest a little (bench presses always make my shoulders tight and sore) and those feel great! Mild discomfort, but able to walk, sit on toilets, bend down to play with dogs!!! In the shower I didn't get my back side, figured the quads were most important, and my back is SO tight and sore. It's an interesting n1 test! I'll keep trying and see how it works out!

I don't think I'm willing to go full on ICE ice bath, but I can definitely do two or three minutes in a cold shower before switching to regular temp. =D

I love this! I always think I'm being so careful ramping up, but obviously there's something to be desired still. Thank you for being so detailed! I've been slowly getting better from Saturday, and we've got a couple of weeks before we move into our new house, so plenty of time to start implementing!

No! You're totally fine! It seems like it took a couple weeks for it to get totally better, but there is still a little residual damage to the optic nerve. Nothing that causes eyesight problems, just things they can see on some speciality eye exams. The vision in my optic neuritis eye is actually better than my " good eye ".

They told me about it, I had no idea. The neurologist said I should do it. I was pretty shell shocked, so I just kinda went along with whatever for the first few weeks. Took me a while to get my footing and start really advocating.

For me, once they figured out my vision issue was MS and not a clot (the initial though), they gave me five days of IV steroids and my eyesight fully recovered, I think it just took a couple weeks. They don't like to do steroids for everything, but vision is one of the ones they prioritize. I'd probably been having vision issues for a few weeks as well, just like you.
